Day 287 of wisdom

“Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by the traffic from both sides.”

Margaret Thatcher

There is no middle ground for anything or anyone in the world, one can either be on the left side or right side, one can either be wrong or right, you can either move forward or go backwards. Choosing to be neutral is choosing to be negative and stagnancy is only a form of retrogression. A man who cannot decide where to stand, will fall for anything. As Theodore Roosevelt would say, "In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing." standing in between is the worst decision any man can make because, you are actually standing for nothing, and when retribution comes for either side you will share in it, but unfortunately when the rewards come to any of the sides you may not be permitted to partake in it.

Indecision is a deadly time wasting and effort sapping activity, it deprives one of moving forward and even draws one backwards to territories he has previously overcame. As much as one must give careful attention to decision making, one must not be too hesitant in making his decisions, as said George W. Cecil, "On the plains of hesitation bleach the bones of countless millions who, at the dawn of decision, sat down to wait, and waiting died." Wrong decisions may be risky to make, but the terror that attends to indecisiveness is terrible and unbearable.

In the words of Muhammad Ali Jinnah who was the founder and first Governor-General of the Pakistani nation he said, "Think 100 times before you take a decision, But once that decision is taken, stand by it as one man." Decision making is a process that should not be rashly attended to, but given careful consideration before conclusion, but once a decision has been made, one must stand full-throated by it.

Your destiny and future is shaped by the decisions you make, or did not make. You learn from wrong decisions, but you regret indecision. Never choose to stay in the middle, a soldier does not go to battle just to stand neutral he would die like a chick. A soldier goes to battle to fight, if he wins, he comes back home singing victory songs, if he does not he dies a hero. Better die a hero standing for a worthy cause than die a chicken standing for no cause at all.
