Day 286 of wisdom
“I try to learn from the past, but I plan for the future by focusing exclusively on the present. That's where the fun is.”
Donald J. Trump
If we must be progressive sojourners on our paths to our desired future, we must learn to do the right things in every situation we may find ourselves. The past is a critical path of our journey only to the extent to which we can learn from it. The past cannot be changed or altered, it is gone but we can make a better future from it by learning from the mistakes, or the good deeds, otherwise, we just leave it where it belongs. The past you have known, today you are living, the future you are yet to see. If your past wasn't good enough, it should be forgotten and let go.
Now is the time to plan for, live for, and create the future we want to see and have, the future we want to live in. The past is gone, the future is uncertain, but now is ours to maximise or waste, whatever we do with our now we reap in our tomorrow. Our future depends on our today, and begs us to make proper use of our today so we can have a happy tomorrow. We must plan for the future, but we can only do that by living in the present. As Mother Theresa would say, "Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin." for the tomorrow you want, start living now.
The future holds for us unimaginably huge, and glorious realities, it is pregnant with what we put in it yesterday, when it finally arrives, we will either be happy we did what we could, or regret the things we didn't do. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." Belief, faith, and hope are the fuel that drives us towards the realization of our dreams, we must continually sustain our belief in the possible realisation of our dreams, or risk an empty, and miserable future.
The only place perfection resides is in the future because, we are yet to get there, but the present is where the fun of planning, working, and living is, never waste today looking back into the past. As Roy T. Bennett said, "Do not let the memories of your past limit the potential of your future. There are no limits to what you can achieve on your journey through life, except in your mind." Clear your mind of clutters, fill it with dreams of a great and pleasant future, run towards that future, and its portals will open unto you good fortunes.
