Day 297 of wisdom
“No person is your friend (or kin) who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow.”
Alice Walker
You need not search for another enemy if your brother, sister, friend, or neighbours silence you, or denies you the right to speak against ills and evil, there you have your enemies. No one irrespective of relationship, affiliation, or allegiance deserve to be a friend if they shut you up when you should speak up or, refuse to listen to you when you speak. Speaking up for one's right is the beginning of the road to freedom, and anyone who denies you the ability to speak denies you of your freedom.
The people who should provide you opportunities to grow, platforms to shine, privilege to rise to are determined to never allow you have all these are your enemies, they do not want you to be who you are meant to be, they limit your chances of growth and freedom, they are the real enemies you should fight, eliminate, and discard, they don't deserve to be your friend, they don't deserve your respect, they are animals in human skin, they wolves who are willing and ready to pounce on you to destroy you, but they come clothed as sheep and friends, they are foes.
It was Alice Walker who also said, “The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.” everyone is powerful in their own right, and a united people is even more powerful, unity brings extreme power, this is why those who hold people captive never want them to be united, they always want to sow discord, disunity, and anarchy among their captives so they would not revolt and overpower them. But once the captives have realised that power belong to them when they come together, that day they become free.
In the fight for freedom, you don't expect to be supported by everyone, even those who are in more miserable conditions than you are will fight against you for the sake of their master, but you must not be weakened by what support you receive or did not receive, you must keep your mind strong and your heads straight, your must remain focused on your goal, your purpose for the fight, and never lose sight of why you started the fight. In the words of Dr Martin Luther King Jr who said, “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” for they are our real enemies.
