Day 94 of wisdom
“Do not lose hold of your dreams or aspirations. For if you do, you may still exist but you have ceased to live.”
Henry David Thoreau
Living is not in how long one stays on the surface of the earth, that is existence. Living is in the impact one is able to make while on the surface of the earth, and to make any impact you must be a dreamer, you must have aspirations for the future, you must have a better life in sight, even if your current situation does not look anything like the life you want to have, you must be determined to be more.
A better life is not reached, or attained by mistake, it is not achieved through luck, or given to anyone on a platter of gold. The better life is dreamt about, aspirations are directed towards it, and determined, dedicated, focused, and deliberate effort is made to achieve those dreams and aspirations.
A man without dreams, and aspirations is a man who is not living, but merely existing, he is a man who has nothing to live for, and a life without a worthy course, is a life not worth living. A life without a destination is a wasted life, an unlived life.
We must endeavour to dream, and not just dream but dream big, to aspire, and achieve greatness, because if we don't, we will not get anywhere. If we don't, our living would be on a journey to an unknown destination, and a journey to an unknown destination is a wasted, and worthless journey, a journey if no importance, of no impact.
The quality of one's life is not in the length of his days, but in the impact he makes in the days he lived, no matter how brief.
Dream, aspire, pursue, and achieve, that is living.
