Day 111 of wisdom

“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”

Sir Winston Churchill

Courage is the small still voice within you telling you you can, when you don't even have the strength to push forward. Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the ability to act even while being afraid. Life is difficult for the weak and feeble minded, but the courageous beats it with ease, not for the strength they possess, but for the will, and tenacity they apply.

Sometimes, people take advantage of our innocence, they ride our meekness, and take our tolerance for granted, but if we must truly live our best life, and get what we deserve from life, we must be ready to stand up against injustice, and prejudice. We must defend that which we know to be true, we must stand firm on our beliefs, and be ready to fight for what is rightfully ours. No one will give you what you deserve on a platter of gold except you fight for it.

Courage could also be the ability to be calm in the face of harshness, and hostilities, it sometimes would require courage for us to be humble enough to learn new skills, to be taught, to gain more knowledge from someone who we probably are better than, older than, or even superior to. Courage is the virtue that gives us the strength to bear truth, and accept the consequences of our actions, and inactions.

In the words of Maya Angelou, “Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently”. Faith, hope, meekness, kindness, love, gentleness, sympathy, and all other virtues cannot be consistently practiced if you don't have courage.

Courage is not outside you, it is within you, use it.
