Day 104 of wisdom
“Knowledge comes from learning. Wisdom comes from living.”
Anthony Douglas Williams
Knowledge is the awareness of facts, and information, it is skills acquired through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject. Wisdom on the other hand is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement; the quality of being wise (Google dictionary).
Knowledge is acquired from a deliberate act of learning a particular subject, and may be applied to that subject only, but wisdom is gotten from the daily life experiences. One can be paid for the amount of knowledge he has, but no one can pay anyone for the wisdom he posses, wisdom is priceless. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “never mistake knowledge for wisdom. One helps you make a living; the other helps you make a life.”
As important as knowledge is, its scope of validity is limited, it carries one through a specific aspect of life and may become invalid in other areas, this is why it is important to acquire knowledge in different areas of ones life, so you can apply the suitable one for each situation. Wisdom is universal, it is all encompassing, wisdom knows no boundary, it is therefore much more important for one to get wisdom.
Knowledge is knowing what to do, wisdom is deciding what is best to do. Knowledge is a product of schooling, wisdom is a product of lifelong learning. Knowledge is a branch in the tree of wisdom.
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)
