Day 93 of wisdom

“The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't.”

Henry Ward Beecher

Perseverance, and obstinacy are two attributes of man that has some similar characteristics, they are borne out of a strong desire to do or not do a thing.

Perseverance is flexible, obstinacy is rigid; perseverance comes with a willingness to learn, obstinacy comes with a strong desire only to do what it sees to be right; perseverance is wisdom, obstinacy is foolishness; perseverance says I will, obstinacy says I won't.

Most success stories are a chronicle of how focused, determined, dedicated, persistent, and persevering the person have been. No one have achieved great success without perseverance. On the other hand, most people fail not because they lack what it takes to succeed, but because they lack the ability to change; the willingness to learn, unlearn, and relearn; the flexibility to try new ways of approaching a matter, and retains the rigidity that only assures them failure.

If one must be successful in life, he must examine himself to see which of these two attributes he posses: perseverance or obstinacy. One must be ready to go in the direction that guarantees the best results.

John Quincy Adams once said "courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air." Courage births perseverance, while obstinacy is borne out of fear.

Perseverance is an habit of victory, be persistent, be positive, and victory is certain.
