Day 113 of wisdom
“Trees that are slow to grow bear the best fruit.”
Moliere
Real growth happens slowly, and yields the best result, any growth that happens rapidly either does not last or crashes unexpectedly. When maize is planted, it starts to sprout in about three days, and in three to four months it is ready for harvest, and afterwards dries up, it came up so quickly and dies quickly. The cocoa tree on the other hand takes between three to five years to bear its first fruit, and can live for as long as one hundred years before it finally dies.
Patience is very important to the growth process of any man, growth should be gradual and steady, may be slow but consistent, hasty growth can lead to hasty destruction. There is a saying that whatever grows up, stays up, but whatever goes up must surely come down. Steady growth guarantees long lasting success, it guarantees the sweetest kind of success.
The story of the Chinese bamboo tree captures wholesomely how success must be achieved. It is said that the Chinese bamboo tree has a very hard seed, that when planted it requires daily, consistent watering, and nurturing for a period of five years, within these five years, no physically visible changes occurs within the ground, and a day of watering and nurturing must not be missed, but after five years this tree sprouts from the ground and grows to as much as ninety feets in thirty days.
If one must achieve massive success, one must go through the rigorous process. Just like the Chinese bamboo tree, even if there is no existential evidence of progress, keep at it, stay in the process, remain true to the course, and one day you will eventually break through.
In the words of the great Greek Philosopher; Aristotle, always remember that, “Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.”
