Day 178 of wisdom

"The race for excellence has no finish line."

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

The quest for excellence is a continuous striving, there is no finish line for excellence, the farther we go in the race the more space opens up for a better and more rewarding future. If we must achieve excellence in all we do we must be consistent in our drive, in our pursuit, and in our quest for greatness. “The hallmark of excellence, the test of greatness, is consistency.”

The journey to any destination must begin with one first step, but arriving at that destination is achieved by consistently taking one step after another without relenting until the destination is reached. The pathway to excellence is doing better today than you did yesterday, and preparing to do better tomorrow than you are doing today.

Ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius once said, “The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential… these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence." It is our will, desire, and urge that matters most in our pursuit of excellence. Excellence is something we do over, and over again, it is not just an act, it is an habit, it is not just what we do, it is something that we become.

Aristotle puts “Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives - choice, not chance, determines your destiny." Excellence is the result of carefully chosen decisions, we never achieve excellence by chance but, by our determination, and drive to get to the point where we become an exception, and the best in everything we do.
