Flexibility and firmness are offspring of same parents, both are relevant at different times, and are important for substantial progress, and eventual success. One must be able to decipher matters for which one must be flexible, and that for which one must be firm and unshaken. Life is very dynamic, for one to sail through life with easy one must embrace dynamism, and flexibility.

Marty Rubin said, "The tree that stands so firm on land trembles in the water." One must be firm when it comes to matters that he is grinded in, and knows no other truth, but when it comes to matters in which one is a green horn, he must live a flexible and dynamic life. As mighty, and rigid a tree is it will not stand firm in water, it will definitely fall. If one does not become flexible in situations that requires flexibility, he would be broken, and shattered, but flexibility allows for a lasting survival.

Life is governed by principles, if life's principles are followed we would get the results that comes with those principle, but if we negate the principles we wouldn't get what is expected, but times, and seasons change, and things change with time, if we would therefore flow with the tides, and not be lost in with the events of time, we must be flexible, and change with the events, and happenings of times.

Ancient Chinese Philosopher Liezi once said, "Develop flexibility and you will be firm; cultivate yielding and you will be strong." The best way to be firm is to learn flexibility, and the best way to be flexible is to be strong, firm, and unwavering in our thoughts, believe, and ideologies, we must learn to make the right choices when we are approached with challenges, so we can get the best from whatever situation we find ourselves.

You must have heard the statement, "slow and steady wins the race" haste is never a propeller, but a retarder. Anyone who attempts to do something in haste always end up wasting more time in achieving that thing than if he has done it with patience, and consistency. Patience is the best instrument time employs in achieving its purpose.

The pace of nature is patience, so if you want to make progress in the pursuit of your dreams, visions, and heart desires, we must be in synchronization with nature, that is, we must go at the pace of nature, which is patience. Patience will achieve far more than force can ever achieve at any given time, and space. Leo Tolstoy said, “The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.” and time is the true test, and revealer of patience.

Whatever is gotten in haste, quickly evaporates, and fades away, but whatever one achieves with patience lasts longer. The great Indian activist Mahatma Gandhi once said, "To lose patience is to lose the battle.” if one must win any battle, if one must achieve whatever we hope to achieve, we must keep our patience, and not lose it, for losing patience is losing the battle.

In the words of Catherine Pulsifer "Learning patience can be a difficult experience, but once conquered, you will find life is easier." Man is naturally not born to be patient, patience is learnt, and the learning process could be very difficult, but when patience is mastered one benefits from it more. The chicken does not come to life by smashing the eggs, the chicken comes to life by hatching its egg, and that takes time. Time brings everything to life. Use patience, achieve more, live happily.

Day 180 of wisdom

“If you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another.”

In the words of Christ as recorded in Matthew 7:12, and Luke 6: 31 He said, "do unto others whatsoever you would that men do unto you" so, if we want to experience peace, we must provide peace to everyone around us. In life we get back what we give, and we can't give what we don't have, but whatsoever we give we don't lose we only plant, and it will return unto in multiple folds.

Whatever one cannot give, he does not really have. Anyone who wants to give peace must first have peace within himself, and after he has given out peace to those of his neighborhood, he would experience peace all around him. The world does experienced so much trouble, so much war, so much atrocities, so much injustice. We must rise, not against war, but for peace, for if we have peace war will not have a place in our world. We don't need to fight against war, we only need to advocate peace.

We are the light of the world, we must shine bright that those in darkness may see the light; we are the salt of the world, we must keep, protect, and maintain our sweetness leat we be good for nothing. We must live a life that makes others live peaceful lives; we must not be driven by our desires to be whatever we want to be at the expense of another man's life, comfort, or peace of mind;  we must be problem solvers, and not problem initiators; we must be 'thank-God' people, and not 'oh-God' people.

John F. Kennedy once said, “Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures.” we don't achieve a peaceful world in one day, the world become a peaceful place as a result of our daily effort to make it a peaceful place. We should therefore make ourselves instruments of peace, and as much as it lies within us, we should live in peace with all men.

Rarely do people get to the end of their youthful lives, and not have something to regret if not a lot of things. So many people's life are half lived, they don't get to live their lives to the fullest when they have the time, but for those who do, looking back on their fruitful, eventful, non regrettable life, is like living that life all over again.

If we will be satisfied with our lives when we are almost at the end of it, if we will cease the privilege to be able to live our lives twice, if we will smile at ourselves, and our achievement when our youthful years are over, the work must begin now while we can, because time waits for no man, and when we will have enough of time, we will not be able to do the things we would have loved to do.

To have lived a satisfied life is to have loved, and be loved; it is to have made people smile in their unpleasant, and vulnerable conditions; it is to have impacted lives so much that their biography, and autobiography will not be complete without you; it is to been a source of joy to everyone you come across; it is to have lived your life so well that your regrets are insignificant, and inconsequential.

Live your live not by people's opinion, but by your choices, your passion, and your vision. At the end of the day it matters not how many people's advice you heed to but what you are able to make of your life through the decisions you make, and take. Satisfaction is not derived in the amount of your you could make in life, but the amount of lives you could positively affect. Choose to live a satisfied life, not a (people) satisfying life.

The quest for excellence is a continuous striving, there is no finish line for excellence, the farther we go in the race the more space opens up for a better and more rewarding future. If we must achieve excellence in all we do we must be consistent in our drive, in our pursuit, and in our quest for greatness. “The hallmark of excellence, the test of greatness, is consistency.”

The journey to any destination must begin with one first step, but arriving at that destination is achieved by consistently taking one step after another without relenting until the destination is reached. The pathway to excellence is doing better today than you did yesterday, and preparing to do better tomorrow than you are doing today.

Ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius once said, “The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential… these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence." It is our will, desire, and urge that matters most in our pursuit of excellence. Excellence is something we do over, and over again, it is not just an act, it is an habit, it is not just what we do, it is something that we become.

Aristotle puts “Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives - choice, not chance, determines your destiny." Excellence is the result of carefully chosen decisions, we never achieve excellence by chance but, by our determination, and drive to get to the point where we become an exception, and the best in everything we do.

Without vision it is impossible to make tangible progress, or achieve anything in life. Vision is not what the eyes sees, it is what the mind conceives. Someone said, "the eyes are useless when the mind is blind" we don't see the future with our eyes, we see it with our mind, so, when our mind cannot conceive, imagine, think, or create the picture of our desired future, we will only continue to move around in circles not knowing which way forward.

If you must see a live better than the one you currently live, if you must attain new levels, if you must experience wonders, you must be a person of vision. As rightly put by Les Brown who said, "It takes someone with a vision of the possibilities to attain new levels of experience. Someone with the courage to live his dreams." Iyanla Vanzant, also opined that, “If you don’t have a vision you’re going to be stuck in what you know.  And the only thing you know is what you’ve already seen.” and what you have seen can do, and give you what you currently have: little.

Your better self, your best life, the full manifestation of what you could be, is on the other side of physical sight, it is in your ability to see what does not yet exist, it is in your vision. Your vision of the future calls out everything it needs to make that future a reality, so, without vision there is no hope, without vision their is no future, without vision life is not worth living. Helen Keller said, " the only thing worse than being blind, is having sight without vision.

The great Sculptor, Poet, and Painter Michelangelo once said, “The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” we must therefore shoot as far as we can, so we can become the best we can be, and live our best lives.

Day 176 of wisdom

Battles may not always be won at first try, but winning eventually happens only when, and only if we don't quit fighting. Life's battle may be so tough, rough, and unending, it may drain us of all the strength we have within, it may sap away all our courage, it may even deny us of what is rightfully ours, but, the key to winning this battle is persistence, consistence, and a never say die attitude.

The battles of life are not actually meant to destroy us but, to build us up to becoming better persons, to create in us the attitude that we need to overcome even tougher challenges. A man whose life is free of battles, and challenges is a man who is not growing, he is a man who has done nothing, is doing nothing, and will remain stagnant for as long as he doesn't decide to change. As Vincent Van Gogh said, “As we advance in life it becomes more and more difficult, but in fighting the difficulties the inmost strength of the heart is developed.”

In the words of Vince Lombardi “It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.” losing is not final, coming back to fight is gives you another opportunity to win, but relenting, and giving up seals you a loser forever. One who does not quit no matter how hard it is, will eventually win.

Napoleon Hill “Victory is always possible for the person who refuses to stop fighting.” if you don't stop fighting until you win, then winning is a certainty. Life is hard, and unfair, the battles may never cease, but the harder the battle, the sweeter the victory. Never give up for victory is just ahead, you have come this far to give up, don't let your effort go to waste, get a reward for it.

The best prayer we can pray for ourselves is not to have easier lives, but to be better men, and we don't become better men just by praying, we become better men by working while we pray. Life does not get any easier, it only gets tougher, and more difficult. Those we see to live seemingly easy lives does not find it easy also. Every new stage, every new level, every new height of our lives always require a better, upgraded, more informed, wiser, more enlightened, and stronger version of us.

Life never takes it easy with any man, so we shouldn't expect an easy, and smooth ride in life, and we must not also take it easy with life. If we allow, life will deal with us, drag us to the ground, stain us, wound, and paralyse us, and then allow little, insignificant problems to trample on us. If we must win in life we must always meet the challenges of life either with an equal, or stronger force than it faces us with.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who is the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and ruler of the Emirate of Dubai once said, "An easy life does not make men, nor does it build nations. Challenges make men, and it is these men who build nations." Ease never produces something enviable. Struggle, challenges, difficulties make great men, and great men achieve enviable, and long lasting feats.

If all you want to do are the easy things, if you are never willing to do the hard, and difficult things, if you never strive to live a great, meaningful, and inspiring life, you need not be told that life soon becomes difficult for people like you. But if you will live in comfort, if you aspire to live the life of your dreams, if you will live the life tomorrow that others won't live, you must be willing and ready to do the things today that others won't do, that is, the harsh, difficult, and challenging things.

The only guarantee to growth, and development whether physical, intellectual, psychological, or in any other area of our lives is in our personal, determined effort towards personal development. Personal is the secret of successful people; it is the thing that separates them from the pack; it is the vehicle that moves them from their miserable, and despicable present, into their desired future; it is their wings to heights of unimaginable achievements.

There is no amount of time, or resources spent on personal development that ever amounts to waste, and there is no better thing to invest in other than in one's self. As we get older in life, we either grow, or reduce in direct proportion to the amount of work we put in our personal development. If we constantly push ourselves to learn, to train, to pursue, to act, to dream, to develop, and to grow, the better we become, but if we neglect all these we are automatically growing in reverse direction. When you cease to grow, and develop, you are life ceases in you.

The best way to save yourself a lot of time is to develop yourself, the better one becomes in doing a thing, the easier, and faster it is for one to do that thing. As world renowned leadership expert and coach, Brian Tracy said, “Personal development is a major timesaver. The better you become, the less time it takes you to achieve your goals.” The better you become through personal development, the easier, and faster your chances of achieving your dreams, visions, and aspirations are.

Without diligence, hardworking, commitment, consistence, and persistence one can achieve nothing in life. No one ever becomes anything by wishing, and hoping, but by taking actions. One does not sit idle at the base of a mountain and expect to be at the peak of the mountain without standing up, and climbing. If you must become successful in life, you must work hard to achieve your dreams, and aspirations, you must build yourself into greatness. What you build is what you become.

“True beauty is born through our actions and aspirations and in the kindness we offer to others.”

A person's true beauty is not in physical, or outward appearances, but in the things that comes out of that person as thoughts, actions, attitude, dreams, and aspirations, and the kindness shown to others. The outward appearance of a man can be  very deceptive, and untrue of a his true colour. What makes one truly beautiful are the inner virtues that proceeds out of a man.

Elisabeth Kubler-Ross succinctly puts that "people are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within." One may be physically attractive through the outward adornment of the body, but this outward beauty fades, when one can no longer be proud of her physical attractiveness, true beauty shines forth from the soul, and is devoid of external looks, and appearance.

Ellen DeGeneres once said "true beauty is not related to what color your hair is or what color your eyes are. True beauty is about who you are as a human being, your principles, your moral compass." A truly beautiful soul is one who makes someone cry, and laugh at the same time; it is one who goes out of his way to make life more beautiful for another person; it is one that makes people cry when they leave, and make them laugh, and smile when they come.

Your true beauty is revealed in your willingness to help others; your zeal to make life easy, and beautiful for someone other than yourself; your determination to be who you are truly meant to be; your fearlessness in pursuing your dreams, and visions; your doggedness in moving forward despite all obstacles, and oppositions; true beauty is in the love you show, and the care you give.

Speculation is the forming of a theory or conjecture without firm evidence; the contemplation or consideration of some subject; a supposition, theory. or opinion arrived at through speculating;  investment involving high risk but also the possibility of high profits. In all the definitions given afore, a common basis summarizes it all: the presence of uncertainty.

Critical decision making must be reached through a process which  involves finding facts, and figures, being certain, and sure of the factors, and circumstances that surrounds the situation at hand, or the events unfolding. Attempting to make a critical decision based on mere speculation could amount to a disastrous ending, which could lead to loss of time, investment, resources, and capital.

Time is a revealer, it reveals, confirms, and authenticates whatever is true, and factual. In the words of Marcus Tullius Cicero who said, "time destroys the speculation of men, but it confirms nature." Speculations cannot stand the test of time, it will surely and definitely crash as time unfolds, but that which is true, and factual will always stand.

Mark Twain once said, "there are two times in a man's life when he should not speculate: when he can't afford it, and when he can." Speculation has destroyed far more people, businesses, and organizations than it has ever created, or established. Their are always two possible outcomes to any endeavour, it is either the positive, or the negative; the expected, or the unexpected; the acceptable, or the unacceptable. It is therefore left to us to get the facts, and act accordingly, because at the end if the day two plus two will never make six, it will still be four.

Day 171 of wisdom

“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”

One cannot attempt to establish, or keep peace by force, it will be a contradiction of what he hopes to achieve. Keeping peace comes through understanding of the existing situation, and the people involved in that situation, and understanding cannot be achieved except through dialogue. Communication is therefore a very important tool to peacemaking, and peacekeeping.

Martin Luther King opined that “Violence is impractical because it is a descending spiral ending in destruction for all. It is immoral because it seeks to humiliate the opponent rather than win his understanding: it seeks to annihilate rather than convert. Violence is immoral because it thrives on hatred rather than love. It destroys community and makes brotherhood impossible. It leaves society in monologue rather than dialogue. Violence ends up defeating itself. It creates bitterness in the survivors and brutality in the destroyers.”

In our efforts to enthrone peace in the world around us we must be ready, willing, and committed to contribute our best to the progress, growth, development, and unity of our societies, and be willing to work with others in achieving same purpose. Daughter of the late Chief MKO Abiola, Hafsat Olaronke Abiola, once said, “Peace comes from being able to contribute the best that we have, and all that we are, toward creating a world that supports everyone. But it is also securing the space for others to contribute the best that they have and all that they are.”

If the world must have peace we must see everyone as our brother irrespective of race, colour, tribe, language, ethnicity, creed, age, gender, geographic location, status, class, or social standing; we must see everyone as partners, and coworkers in the building of a peaceful world. As much as the world needs great men, and women, business tycoons, and leaders of vision, the world need more peacemakers, more love givers, more light. Darkness can eradicate darkness, war, force, and conflict cannot establish peace, only peace can bring peace.

Strickland Gillian could not have said it in a better way when he said, "You may have tangible wealth untold; caskets of jewels and coffers of gold. Richer than I you can never be. I had a mother who read to me." One who is a reader has the world at his feet, he has the key to greatness, and in his custody are the  hidden treasures of the whole world.

In this modern age, and time of human development, advancement in technology, and civilization the power that comes through reading cannot be overemphasized. Reading is the fuel that drives the personal development, and growth of any human being. Reading broadens the mind, and enables one to see beyond the world around him, reading gives one wings to fly.

Frederick Douglass said "once you learn to read, you will be forever free." One who have learnt the art of reading can never be bound again, even in prison. Freedom is not the of movement, or something of the ability to do what one wishes to do at any moment, true freedom is in the mind, it is the ability to look forward into the brightness of the future, and see clearly what it holds for you.

The best legacy, or gift you can give to any man is the ability to be able to read, the best gift parents can give their children is the gift of reading, and good books. Garrison Keillor once said, "A book is a gift you can open again and again." Whenever one opens a book, it brings new light to the mind, books are the path to an unseen future, and the vehicle to an unexperienced past.

Day 169 of wisdom

Everybody always have opinions about everything, but it does not mean that their opinions are the true, and factual expression of existing events. Most times people's opinion are always derived from their own personality, and beliefs, not necessarily of the subject. If we try to please people based on their opinion about us, we will not be living our own lives, but the live of many opinion givers.

People may have different opinions about you, but your opinion about yourself is the most important, and is that which matters most. Pleasing people may be the greatest threat to your growth, and personal development. So, if you want to grow in proportions that is in synchronization with your personality, and character you must listen more to yourself than others.

Criticism from people may be a good way of checking your progress, but whose criticism do you listen to? Some people criticize you because they can't achieve what you are achieving, some criticize because they are envious of your achievement, and some criticize you because they want you to progress, they seek your growth, they want you to become better persons. So, you must be careful of whose criticism you accept into your mind.

Richard Feynman once said, "You have no responsibility to live up to what other people think you ought to accomplish. I have no responsibility to be like they expect me to be. It’s their mistake, not my failing." Angelina Jolie also said, "Some people say you are going the wrong way, when it’s simply a way of your own." If you are doing your own thing, if you are going your own way, if you are going your own way, keep at it for breakthrough is just on the horizon.

Day 168 of wisdom

There is no action without a thought, and if any actions happens without a thought, it would be on impulse. One of Africa's foremost independent crusaders, Kwameh Nkrumah once said, "action without thought is empty. Thought without action is blind." Our thoughts are the bedrock, basis, and foundation of our actions. If we take any action without thought, it must have been an impulsive action, which could have either a grave repercussion, or a positive impact. Impulsive action could be taken out of deep anger, or extreme excitement, it could be a matter of life, and death.

Lao Tzu was quoted to have said the statement, "watch your thoughts; they become words, watch your words; they become actions, watch your actions; they become habits, watch your habits; they become character, watch your character, it becomes your destiny." We must guard our thoughts with all diligence, and sincerity, they are the vehicle that drives us to our destiny, and if we are in the wrong vehicle we will arrive at the wrong destination.

We are a product of our thoughts, and if we will be what we wish, and desire to be, we must think in manners that align with our desired destination. Positive thoughts produce positive outcomes, and negative thoughts produce negative outcomes. We can channel our thoughts in the right direction, we can change our thought, and our lives will change. "As a man thinketh in his heart, so his he" we become what we repeatedly think.

If we must be free, we must begin to think freedom; if we must be prosperous, we must begin to think prosperity; if we must be great, we must begin to think greatness, and with all our thinking, we must begin to act, because thought without action is blind. In the words of Henri Bergson who said, "think like a man of action, act like a man of thought" if our actions are without thought, we are only acting in futility, and if our thoughts are without actions,  we have only succeeded in building a castle in the air.

Day 167 of wisdom

An African Proverb says “if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” The place, and power of association cannot be overemphasized in our quest for achieving success. We can go fast as a one man army, our speed may not be matched by any other on our journey to our desired, dreamed, and expected future.

As important and crucial keeping company may be, care must be given to the kinds of company one keeps, good company moves you forward, and to your desired future, but bad company destroys, and disrupts your journey to your dream future. 1 Corinthians  15:33 admonished us saying, "Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners." A person of good character, and manners would have his manners soiled if he gets into communion with people of questionable character, and would be worse for it.

Charles Darwin once said "It is the long history of humankind (and animal kind, too) that those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed." Without collaboration success, victory, and achievement would not be very easy, but when people come together for a unique, mutually beneficial, and progressive course they achieve it more quickly, easily, and qualitatively.

Michael Jordan also said "Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships." Individuality can move you forward fast, but teamwork, good company, and positive association takes you far in life, just like Helen Keller said, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." The Google dictionary in oxford languages defined religion as "the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods." But religion in the real sense of it is more than just the belief, and the worship, religion is more about the way we live our lives, and how it affects, or impacts others. Religion is more of how our daily lives makes a difference in our world.

If our neighbours does not enjoy the benefit of our religion from us; if they don't live better lives as a result of our religion; if they are intimidated, tormented, and unhappy by us, or with us our religion is of no use, it is of no benefit, and of no importance to humanity. Our religion should not only make us better, but also everyone around us, in fact any religion that does not make our neighbours better can not make us better either.

We can not be the only beneficiaries of our own religion, we live in a world that has become a global village, everyone one on earth is our neighbour, and if we would as a result of our religious belief cause harm to any of our neighbours we have not found a religion. Our way of live must be that which is mutually beneficial to us and everyone we come across.

This quote by Thomas Paine sums it all up more succinctly, he said, "the World is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and kindness is my religion." Make kindness, doing good, helping others, showing love, and justice seeking your habit towards your fellow men backed up by your belief, and worship in the most Supreme, then you have a religion. Religion is not practiced on a day of the week, religion is your lifestyle, it is practiced throughout your lifetime.

Day 165 of wisdom

Every finished goods, every product, every success story, every ending must have had a beginning, a process, before an end. This process can either be easy, or difficult, the ease could have been learnt over a period of consistent repetition, but nothing arrives at a point, or destination without having passed through a definite process.

Any one who would one day spread his wings to fly must first have to learn how to crawl, stand, walk, run, climb, dance, and then grow wings, nurture, and develop those wings before he can fly. No one learns to fly by flying, you cannot fly into flying, you must first learn what it takes to fly, but you must continue to move if you must get to anywhere other than where you are.

In the words of Lalah Delia, "Grapes must be crushed to make wine; Diamonds form under pressure; Olives are pressed to release oil; Seeds grow in darkness. Whenever you feel crushed, under pressure, pressed, or in darkness, you’re in a powerful place of transformation/transmutation." Be proud of your process.

The path of a Butterfly is different from that of a Bird, that of an Elephant is different from that of a Dog, their paths cannot be compared, and their process is different from each other. Your process is unique to you, you cannot be compared, or compare yourself to anyone else. Trust your process, stay true to it, never doubt where it is taking you to, you will definitely become better for it. It is not the destination that matters most, but what we become on the journey to our destination that is most important. Don't jump the process, follow it through, and become your best.

Day 164 of wisdom

“We need to be reminded more than we need to be instructed.”

Priority must be given to the things that deserve prioritized attention. The early stages of a man's life is an instruction receiving stage, one must be duly instructed, informed, and taught the necessities of life, and living before he can be  reminded, and one can only remember that which he was taught, but can learn through experience, and take some critical actions by intuition.

Oftentimes, men forget lessons life has taught them, they forget experiences, they forget instructions, and therefore needs more often to be reminded of those things they already knew than being instructed. We need to be reminded of the reasons we came here, we need to be reminded that we have a purpose, and that we must live our lives according to our own dreams, visions, and goals rather than on the opinion of people, and their approval.

We need to be reminded that we were endowed with great talents, abilities, intelligence, and power, we need to be reminded that we were given intuition as God's permanently ingrained voice in our minds telling us what to do at times when things become very difficult, and events happen that are beyond what we would ordinarily think of, or are aware of. If we develop our intuition, and listen to it more often we would be amazed at how much disaster we would escape.

We also need to be reminded that without the right people in our lives we cannot achieve what we were made to achieve in life, and ultimately we must be reminded that without the ultimate Being, the Almighty, the most high, without the creator, the God of heaven we cannot do anything worthwhile with our lives, we would just be ordinary beings passing through life, and leaving no trace, no legacy, and no impact on the world. You already know much, you already have much, you need only to be reminded, and you will appreciate life more.

Whenever you find yourself in the front line of any endeavour, in any space the best thing you could do for those following you is to set a good example for them. Leading by example is the best way to lead, it makes leading easy as you don't need to give instructions before followers do. Lee Lacocca once said, "if you set a good example you need not worry about setting rules", once you set a good example setting rules becomes unnecessary as your example becomes the rule.

As a leader the best way to make everyone following you do what you want them to do is to start by doing it yourself. Children learn best, and faster through the examples they see from their parents, and the elderly ones around them than what they are been told, or intentionally taught to do. Children don't always become very different from their parents because they pick up their parents habit unconsciously, but more adequately, and concisely. So, the best legacy, and advice you can give your children is a good example.

Forcefully commanding, or instructing a person to do a thing might work in an instance, but making someone accept an ideal, a way of life, a phenomenon is best achieved by setting a good example. A leader who leads by example is more likely to have more committed, and loyal followers than one who forcefully instructs them to do a thing no matter how good, and pleasant that thing could be. As Dwight L. Moody said, "a good example is far better than a good precept."

Francis Bacon said, "he that gives good advice, builds with one hand; he that gives good counsel and example, builds with both; but he that gives good admonition and bad example, builds with one hand and pulls down with the other." It is up to you to decide what you want to do, and achieve, if you want to build with one hand which is not bad; build with one hand, and pull down with the other, which is effort in futility; or build with both hands. Think for yourself, and choose wisely.

One who does not have enemies is not living his life, he is simply living other people's life. If you have, planning to, or currently standing for something, you must have had enemies, have enemies, or be gaining enemies. If you stand for a good cause, if you stand for your right, if you stand against injustice, if you stand for equality, you have enemies: secret, and public enemies, because whatever you stand for, or against there is somebody on the other side of the divide.

If you don't have enemies, you don't have a standing; if you don't have a standing, your life is not worth living; if you don't have enemies, you are an enemy to yourself. Every worthy battle is always against an enemy, and if you must win those battles, you don't necessarily have to be more powerful, more equipped, more talented, or stronger than your enemy, you only have to be more determined, more focused, more desperate, and ready to outwit your contender.

Standing for something may cost you something, so you must be careful what you stand for. If you stand for something that is worth less than what you might lose, you might not be standing right, you might not be doing the right thing, you might need to reevaluate your standing. When deciding where to stand, and what to stand for in any situation you must be careful not to stand for the wrong cause.

If you have found a good cause to stand for, even if you will stand  alone, do it, but if you can find like minded, concerned, and dedicated partners who are ready to stand with you then align, and team up with them. Every great cause that has been successfully fought for have had the standing of determined men, and women who were ready not to give up no matter what, they were determined to have what they stood for, or nothing. Peter Marshall said, "if you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything" find the right thing to stand for, and then stand right.

When one falls into a body of water, and gets out of it he does not get drowned, but when one falls into water and stays there then water gets into him and he gets drown. Getting drown in water is like falling down and refusing to get up, getting drown is like failing, and refusing to pick yourself back up to get going again.

Ones willingness to get out of the water, his cry for help, and assistance, his determination not to get drown are the key ingredients to his rescue and survival. You may not be a good swimmer to get out on your own but if you cry out for help, help will surely come to your aid. No one becomes successful in isolation, just like a tree cannot make a forest so, can you not do everything on your own. Whatever you hope to achieve you must do so with collaboration, teamwork, and networks as much as it would be necessary.

Success is assured when you are not afraid, ashamed, or proud to ask for help when it is needed. No one is an island of knowledge, and no one is totally independent, everyone needs someone to get to somewhere. You may have all the talents, attributes, capacities, and abilities, but you need the vehicles of progress to move forward in life. You must value the people around you, make the places you go a step towards your desires, and ensure events are a platform for your growth, and promotion.

Winston Churchill once said, “success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts” strive to continue no matter what, do not relent even after your fall, get back up, look up, dust yourself, and keep moving forward. The key to getting there is to keep moving.

Today is the most precious gift we can ever have, it is called present, because it is given to us to use it the best way we can, it is therefore left to us to do with it whatever we can. If you don't maximize today you will not enjoy tomorrow, if we fail to make the best use of today, tomorrow will suffer for it.

Once a day passes, it is gone forever you cannot have yesterday's time to do what you refused to do yesterday. Whatever you have to do  today, you must do so you wouldn't regret tomorrow. We have all it takes to make everyday worth living, we are endowed with great talents, undisputable abilities, and exceptional gifts to help us sail through every seemingly insurmountable challenges.

Though tomorrow is pregnant with lots of opportunities, and privileges, it is unknown to us what tomorrow will bring. Tomorrow is beyond our reach. The only guarantee we have is today, getting to tomorrow is not for us to determine, or know. The creator sees the future, determines the future, and allows what He wills.

Make the best use of today, work today, plan for tomorrow, pray, hope for the best, and expect the best. Live each day as if it was your last, because one day it will be just like that. Life is an adventure, you must enjoy every part of your journey, don't get to the end of the journey only to regret not enjoying the ride.

Man as much as have developed, built, and made the world a better place to live, has also been the major source of all human problems since creation. Man has become selfish, self satisfying, and self aggrandizing, and does not care if he achieves all his heart desires at the expense of another man's life, property, or well being. These therefore, are the reasons we have unrest, chaos, and wars everywhere.

Pirates on the high sea, kidnappers on our roads, ritualist, armed robbers, and thieves, are on the rampage, most not for amassing wealth to themselves, but for getting enough to feed their families, and relatives. Some of these people have farmlands, and homes that have been destroyed by the activities of the high, mighty, rich, and famous minority who care less of these vulnerable, and less privileged majority.

We may not have all we need, but from our not so much, we must give to those who have nothing, we must help the helpless, for it is not he who has much that is rich, but he who out of his little gives to the one who needs more than himself. Hunger is a plague that must be fought to the death with all we have, hunger can turn a man into the opposite of himself, hunger can turn friends into enemies, hunger can destroy a home, hunger is as deadly as death.

God created a world of abundance, where everyman will be satisfied with the resources available to all, but we have created a divide, a gulf where some live in plenty, and others in nothing. We must show love, share happiness, and bring smile to the faces, heart, and lives of those who need it. It is a blessing to receive, but it is more blessed to give, because the man who gives never lack. If we want a world where peace, and unity  reigns, we must fight against the indignity of hunger in our world, for God wants it so.

The Bellamy brothers in one of their songs said, "life ain't like a bowl of cherries, there's too little laughter and too much sorrow. It's more like a jar of jalapenos..." Life a lot of times can be very tough, frustrating, and heartbreaking, we may not always get what we hope for, wish for, or even deserve, but whatever happens, we must not allow life events limit our forward movement.

It is not the one who starts a journey that will receive a reward, but the one who finish it. Finishing the journey does not always mean a smooth ride, sometimes there are potholes, ditches, and bumps on the road, one may fall, but must also rise each time he falls. Falling may become inevitably recurring, but rising must become a convenient habit if the finish line must be reached.

Hope must be kept alive, our eyes must be set on the goal, we must always keep our face towards the sunshine, so the darkness would not be ahead, but behind us. The light at the end of the tunnel will be brighter than we have ever experienced. You have what it takes to turn the sourness in your life into something positive, something you have always desired, and wished for, but you must not give up on the race ahead.

Dalton Ross once said, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”, always see the positives in every situation, because every situation has one. Look to the skies, never look down on yourself, look up, raise your heads high, the way forward is not downward, but upward. There is brightness on the other side of your darkness, you must get there, so keep moving.

Being important is a nice thing, it makes you feel good about yourself, but a more important thing than being important is being nice, it helps you make other people feel good about themselves without denying you your good feelings too. Being important does not make you indispensable, but being nice makes you needed. A nice man is of more value to the society than an important man.

The world is in great need of a lot of nice people more than it needs important people. One who is nice is more important than an important person. Being nice comes with the readiness to serve, the mind to help, and the spirit of lifting up the the lowly, and down casted. An important man thinks not of any of these things, but his own self. He thinks only of satisfying himself, his ego, and everything he holds dear.

Maya Angelou once said, "I have learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Making people happy is one of the greatest task one can ever accomplish, it is one of the greatest form of fulfilment one can ever have.

It is good to be important, but the importance achieved through being nice is the best form of importance. An important man can start a business, but it will take a nice man to grow a business. Being relevant makes you replaceable, being nice makes your type rare. Be good, it makes you important; be nice it makes you immortal.

Day 156 of wisdom

No one ever starts a journey without a definite, and precise destination in mind, anyone who starts a journey without knowing where he is heading for will be seen as one who is not wise. No matter how long a journey takes, there will be an end, there will be a destination, there will be a finish line. Most of the times, people despise the journey, and the impact it has on the voyager, but exalts the destination, but it is the journey the has the most important impact on us. 

Robert Pirsig once said, "to live only for some future goal is shallow. It's the sides of the mountain that sustain life, not the top." Though the future is the goal, the brightness, the glamour, the excitement that it offers is highly anticipated, we should not forget that what makes the destination worthy the while is the journey itself. The celebrations at the top of the mountain is not because we got to the top, it is because we climbed to the top. We would not celebrate getting to the top of a mountain if we were to be dropped at the top by a chopper, but we would if we climbed to the top.

You would have had the phrase, "the end justifies the means" but if the means wasn't enjoyed, if the means wasn't properly experienced, the end will not be very exciting. Who we become on our journey to the future is what makes the difference in our lives, not where we get to. The best gift we can get from the journey is who, or what we become, it can never be taken away from us.

The end is the goal, but the means is what makes the end worth it. While we anticipate a great ending, we must make the journey as experientially impacting as possible. Experience is built on the journey not at the destination. Build your experience, build your life.

P.T Barnum once said, “money is good for nothing unless you know the value of it by experience.” anyone who haven't had so much money to spend, and give away, does not have money experience, and cannot really talk about money, or the real value of it, such person don't really know what money can do, or bring to a persons life.

Paul Van Der Merwe once said, "money makes the world go round; however, happiness greases the axle. Without this lubricant, life will seize." Money is not evil, but the love of it that is evil, and if not controlled can lead one to destruction. When you have money you will worry less about some things, you will be able to do some things faster than you think about them. More money means, more action, less thinking, less worry.

Zig Ziglar once said, "money is not everything, but it ranks right up there with oxygen" money is so important that it's presence makes living easier for one, it makes love grow, it makes peace reign, and it gives you the liberty to do what you really want to do when you want to do it. If money was not so important, we would have been in pursuit of unimportant things all our life.

Anyone who says money isn't important must be very impressed with poverty, such person must be a very close friend to the wretched, and the poor, and must be satisfied with the life they live, otherwise he wouldn't see money as unimportant, and doesn't guarantee happiness. No money, no happiness, get money, be happy.

While on campus, a very close friend of mine will always make a statement, "it is good to do good" he utters this statement so much that some people remembers him as "it is good to do good". Doing good is the ultimate responsibility of man, a man that does not do good, would not expect good, even if he does expect good, he knows he doesn't deserve it. "Whatever a man sows, he will reap"

Sometimes, people don't do good because they feel they will not be compensated, or duly rewarded for the good they do, but anyone who does good with the mindset of getting rewarded has really not done any good, but working out favour for himself. If we really want to do good, there us no limit to the amount of good we can do. There are countless helpless, and needy, people who need a lot of help, a little good to them would be a great deal.

Thomas Paine once said, "Independence is my happiness, and I view things as they are, without regard to place or person; my country is the world, and my religion is to do good." If we see the world as our country, and everybody as our brothers, and sisters we would do a lot more good to a lot more people, the world will be a better place, and people will not do harm to one another.

Suzy Kassem said, "A memorable heart is the easiest way to immortality." The easiest way to live long in the heart of others even after one is gone, is by doing good, and without discrimination. Do good, and you will receive good.

Day 153 of wisdom

The universe is illuminated by a super source of light: the sun. It is the major source of illumination for the entire universe, though it gives light to everything thing else we look at, even the moon get her light from the sun, it is impossible to take a direct glance at the sun itself.

God is like the sun, it is only in HIM we can find meaning, and purpose in life. A life that does not consider God in its being, living, existence, and endeavors is a life that cannot fulfil purpose, it is a life that will not see brightness, and cannot see anything at all.

Darkness is the order of the world, the world, and everything in it is meaningless, and life is of no real value, and importance without the Creator, and Architect of it. A machines’ true purpose, and functionality cannot be known unless the producers’ manual, or instruction is on it, same way life is meaningless without GOD.

Rick Warren once said, “Without God, life has no purpose, and without purpose, life has no meaning. Without meaning, life has no significance or hope. If your life must find meaning, and you want to see everything within, and around you clearly, you must begin to look at it through the eyes of God in we truly have life.
