Day 149 of wisdom

“Letting go doesn’t mean that you don’t care about someone anymore. It’s just realizing that the only person you really have control over is yourself.”

Deborah Reber

Letting go is an action taken out of a courageous heart. It is one of the most difficult actions one can take in life, but sometimes it is the most important decision one have to take to be able to move forward. Letting go comes from the realization that we have the strength, courage, and ability to control our emotional desires, and personal gratification needs.

Late Indian mystic, and public speaker Acharya Rajneesh, popularly known as 'Osho' once said "If you love a flower, don’t pick it up. Because if you pick it up it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be. Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation." True love is not always about possessing what is loved, but in appreciating it.

When you love a thing, you must be ready to let it be, you must be ready to let it go, and also be ready to allow it grow on its own. If you can't let something grow, your love for that thing is questionable. Some things thrive better when they are left to themselves. Just as some wounds heals faster when it is left undisturbed, untouched, and untampered with, so does a number of things do better on their own.

Roy T. Bennett shared his opinion on letting go, he said, “accept yourself, love yourself, and keep moving forward. If you want to fly, you have to give up what weighs you down.” Letting go could sometimes be to the utmost good of the person who is letting go, and not solely to that of the released. If we desire to move forward in life you must be willing, and ready to shed whatever weighs you down, you must give up that which clips your wings, so you can fly.
