366 days of wisdom (May 04, 2020)

Day 125 of wisdom

“I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough, we must do.”

Leonardo da Vinci

In a world that constantly seek doers, movers, shakers, and actors it s no longer enough to be a professor, it is no longer enough to know, or be willing to do a thing, it is now expedient that we act. There are too many people who are knowledgeable about variety of things, but have not made any impact on their environment, and its people through their knowledge; there are too many voices, that must becomes actors.

Many have ideas, but are not implementing, many are willing but aren't doing anything. If the world must experience change, if we would see a better world, we must go beyond the willingness, and the ideas, we must start to act. Francois de La Rochefoucauld once said, “thinkers think and doers do. But until the thinkers do and the doers think, progress will be just another word in the already overburdened vocabulary by sense.”

If we must be progressive, we must take the initiative to cause change, we don't have to wait until all conditions are perfect before we act, we must get to work the moment we are awakened to the ills that must be corrected, we need not wait for the right time, nor the best opportunity to arise, we must create the environment that favours our course. Time waits for no one, and lives could depend on our actions for survival, or growth, but our inactions could deprive people of that.

We are the change the world is waiting for, must not become quiet, we must not be intimidated, we must start to act for if we do not, we would have failed our generation, and those behind us. Don't just wish, act.
