366 days of wisdom (May 16, 2020)

Day 137 of wisdom

“A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them.”

John C. Maxwell

Mistakes are not exclusive to a group of people, everyone makes mistakes, but your class determines the kind of mistakes you make. Mistakes are ways by which life teaches us some important lessons that we would not have learnt if we had not done those mistakes. Although we work towards perfection, we must be ready, willing, and open to making mistakes, because mistakes teaches us maybe not what to do, but what not to do.

When mistakes are made, we must be ready to take responsibility for it, it shows how mature, and responsible we are; we must also not let the lessons in those mistakes be wasted , we must profit from it, we must understand that there is a lesson for us in whatever we do, whether right or wrong; all being said, we must have the courage to correct our mistakes, we must not let it slip without being corrected, and ensure it is not being repeated.

Catherine Pulsifer spoke about mistakes, she said, "We all make them, the difference is what we do after we make the mistake, how we see the mistake - a learning experience or a failure." How do you react to your mistakes, do you learn from it, or you beat yourself for it? Do you see it as an experience to teach you life, or as an event to bring you down? Your reaction to mistakes determine what you get from it.

Success may not easily be achieved until one has failed, life's experiences will not be complete without mistakes, we cannot properly guide, and advice others if we ourselves have not at one time made some mistakes on our journey to success. Sometimes, mistakes teaches us better what the best advice will not will not. Henry Ford said, "The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing."

If you have learnt from a mistake, you have only attended a life class, you haven't made a mistake.
