A friend once made a statement that got me thinking, she said, "life is just a long story of how one died", at first I disagreed vehemently with the statement, but on a second, and deeper thought, I felt it is true for some people, and false for some. Some people only managed to live empty lives, they came to the world and left without a trace, they left no legacy, nothing worth remembering, they never made any reasonable impact in anyone's life.

Our journey on earth is just too short for us not to live our best lives, we were not made just to pass through this earth like 'a snake on a rock' leaving no trace, no mark, no footprints. We were made for greatness, we were made to defy odds, we were made to maximize our potentials, subdue our limitations, and turn our obstacles into stepping stones. Our lives don't have to be a long story of a short trip to the grave.

The brevity of our lives does not have to limit what we can become. We have all it takes to live a life that will be an enthralling long story of a brief, and short, but impact filled, record breaking, legacy establishing life. We must live our lives such that on our deathbed, we will smile at our self, and say, "I made full use of the gifts God gave me".

Without love life would not be worth living, the world would have been in shambles, chaos, and anarchy would be the order of the day. So, we must love all human, and live a loving life. Life is short, make yourself happy, smile, laugh, love, hold no grudge against anyone, forgive whoever offends you, and leave the world having made your impact.

The world is in perfect shape, and order, it is a complete, and independent entity. We are in greater need of the universe than the universe needs us, without us the universe will continue to be itself, organised, and in order, but we must align ourselves with the orderliness of the universe so we can be what we are meant to be.

We have a definite, and clear purpose on earth, we must discover our purpose to find our place in the universe. Our presence, and existence in the world is for a universal, and greater good. When we discover purpose, and we make efforts to achieve that purpose, the universe finds a way to make everything fall into place for us, the universe finds a way to make our efforts productive, and yielding.

Katherine Anne Porter asserted that "there seems to be a kind of order in the universe… in the movement of the stars and the turning of the Earth and the changing of the seasons. But human life is almost pure chaos. Everyone takes his stance, asserts his own right and feelings, mistaking the motives of others, and his own."

If we must become our best, if we must fulfill purpose, we must be at peace with our self, and the universe. We owe ourselves the responsibility of of making our lives great. We are endowed with great capabilities, and the privilege of choosing freely the type of life we want for ourselves. We must therefore, choose, strive, and endeavour to attain the highest possible heights we should, and can attain.

Humans are generally thinking machines, generating millions, if not billions of thoughts per time. Our thoughts are either positive, or negative depending on state of mind, circumstances, and events around us. Most times our thoughts are directed towards a line of action which we may not be proud of.

In the spirit of integrity, and honesty, and the need to be bold in making known our thoughts we must train our minds to think positive, and progressive thoughts, we must be determined, and desirous of making positive changes in our society, and in the life of everyone around us.

Our thoughts shape our lives, so, we must be careful the kind of thoughts we permit in our minds, we must protect our minds against thoughts that will inhibit our growth, slow down our progress, and demoralize our being.

Ultimately, we must be true to ourselves, if we fail to be true to ourselves, then we can't expect others to trust or believe us. William Faulkner once said,
Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world...would do this, it would change the earth."

Day 149 of wisdom

“Letting go doesn’t mean that you don’t care about someone anymore. It’s just realizing that the only person you really have control over is yourself.”

Letting go is an action taken out of a courageous heart. It is one of the most difficult actions one can take in life, but sometimes it is the most important decision one have to take to be able to move forward. Letting go comes from the realization that we have the strength, courage, and ability to control our emotional desires, and personal gratification needs.

Late Indian mystic, and public speaker Acharya Rajneesh, popularly known as 'Osho' once said "If you love a flower, don’t pick it up. Because if you pick it up it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be. Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation." True love is not always about possessing what is loved, but in appreciating it.

When you love a thing, you must be ready to let it be, you must be ready to let it go, and also be ready to allow it grow on its own. If you can't let something grow, your love for that thing is questionable. Some things thrive better when they are left to themselves. Just as some wounds heals faster when it is left undisturbed, untouched, and untampered with, so does a number of things do better on their own.

Roy T. Bennett shared his opinion on letting go, he said, “accept yourself, love yourself, and keep moving forward. If you want to fly, you have to give up what weighs you down.” Letting go could sometimes be to the utmost good of the person who is letting go, and not solely to that of the released. If we desire to move forward in life you must be willing, and ready to shed whatever weighs you down, you must give up that which clips your wings, so you can fly.

Ancient Greek philosopher Socrates said, "true wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us." The moment we believe we know so much about life, that moment we declare our ignorance, and deprive ourselves the privilege to know, and understand more.

The things we think are the most important are actually the most insignificant, and most inconsequential, they seem important because we have placed a lot of importance on them, but life's most important things are the ones we have failed to give much attention to. The true lessons of life are the ones we do not easily recognize, and see as important. They are the lessons that gives us the greatest, and most important experiences of life.

Sometimes, the more you try to sort out life, the more puzzling, and confusing it gets. We must learn to learn, unlearn, and relearn, we must be willing to let life take its due course when we cannot do anything to alter the progression of events, and happenings. We must seek to understand, not just to know, knowing limits our knowledge, but understanding opens us up to know more.

J. L. Huie said expressly that, "Life is a riddle. We cannot expect to understand life's twists and turns as they occur each day, and we greatly frustrate ourselves in the futile attempt. Be content to appreciate that there is an overarching purpose, though that purpose be known only to God, and to history. Choose service. Choose joy. Accept the unknowing."

A man who does not endeavour to chart an uncharted territory can not discover new things, he can not do anything that hasn't been done before. If we must attain heights never attained by any man, if we must do that which has not been done before by any man, we must not be afraid of doing things never done before by any man, we must endeavour to be different, we must dare to do what others fear doing.

New discoveries comes only through taking bold, and unprecedented actions, and this can only be done when one have known how to properly handle, and deal with fear. Polish-French, and Nobel Prize winning scientist, Marie Curie once said, “nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” rather than fear anything, we must seek to understand, it is in so doing we achieve the never achieved.

The world is full of vast, undiscovered territories, fields, and paths, we must choose to be fearless, we must choose to seek the truth, we must rise from our fears, and obstacles, and turn them into stepping stones, and platforms to rise higher. We must maintain a positive outlook, and mindset so we can be free from any encumbrances that could limit, or hinder our upward movement, and progress.

Strive to be different, make efforts to become nothing less than what you can, and should be, endeavour to discover the undiscovered, live life to the fullest, never look down on yourself, you are a great reservoir of treasure, ensure you don't go to your grave with all you should have given the world, and ultimately live fearlessly, the world is your playing ground.

There is no honour in living for one's self, but there is great honour in living for others. True wealth is not in what one has, but in what one is able to give. Manoj Arora once said, "Your wealth is not defined by your capacity to accumulate, rather by your capacity to give away." One who has but does not give has nothing, but one who out of little finds a way to give is the one who has much.

Joseph Campbel said, "a hero is someone who has given his life to something bigger than himself or something other than himself." You cannot become something, or someone great if you live solely for yourself, you must live for a purpose bigger, greater, and better than just you if you want to achieve greatness.

A seed that remains to itself will never become a tree, it will never produce other seeds, it will not grow beyond being a seed, but when it is planted, buried, and dead in the ground it will sprout, grow, and become a tree which will produce fruits, seeds, and other things for the use of everyone who has the privilege to come across it, and benefit from it. In James Allen's words who said "he who would accomplish much must sacrifice much."

If you must live long, live for others; if you must leave a long lasting positive impact in the life of others, you must live for the happiness of others, and help them live better lives. We don't lose whatever we give, we only multiply it, it is what we keep that we lose. We don't achieve greatness by holding on to something, we achieve greatness through great commitment, and sacrifice.

Day 145 of wisdom

Worrying is the most unproductive journey, or task of the mind anyone can embark on, or get involved in. Google dictionary defined worrying as an act of "causing anxiety about actual or potential problems." Either actual, or potential, worrying changes nothing, it does not affect the outcome of whatever has been, or will be. If you want to get a different, and positive result from an ugly situation, turn your attention from worrying into taking intentional, and purpose driven actions.

Roy T. Bennett wrote in one of his books, he said, "instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create." You would benefit more from shifting your energy to what you can control, create, and achieve with your strength, and determined effort rather than worry about what you can't control. Life, many at times gives you unexpected, and uncontrollable circumstances, but it is in your powers to control how you react to what life gives you, that is the most important thing.

Someone once said, "Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength." Have you seen someone who through worrying achieved anything at all in life? Have you seen anyone who in a worry state had any dose of happiness? Worry does not give room to productivity, and happiness, just as Roy Bennett said "If you want to be happy, do not dwell in the past, do not worry about the future, focus on living fully in the present."

Don't sink yourself into paying a debt you do not owe, don't waste your time, and life worrying, or thinking about someone who is not thinking about you, live in the present, live in the moment; Pray, play, plan, dream, have goals, and visions that will push you forward in life. Just sit, relax, and think your way forward. Think more about what you have, your potentials, your talents, ability, your bravery, and confidence, then channel it into achieving your vision. Maximize your power.

Day 144 of wisdom

Winning is a an habit of winners, it is achieved by consistently rising even when one falls, but accepting failure means staying on the ground when a fall happens. Everyone fails, today's winners were once failures who never gave up to their failures. Anyone can win, but one who will win must not accept failure as final, he must not stay defeated no matter the circumstances.

If you have failed in anything, it depicts forwards movement in that endeavour. Failure does not come to one who does nothing, so does success. One who is on the ground does not fear falling, because you can only fall to the ground, and that is where he is already. Anyone that will win must see failure as a stepping  stone to success, not a stumbling block.

Vince Lombardi also said that, "winning is an habit, unfortunately so is losing" if you must continue to win, you must not accept failure at any point in time, you must move from failure to winning, and make winning an habit. Those who quit does not quit because it is impossible, they quit because they don't believe they can win, they quit because they believe winning is for a select few.

If you can fail you can win. The difference between failing and winning is not quitting, not accepting defeat, falling and rising again. Les Brown once said, "shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you will land among the stars." Winning requires that one aims very high, if you don't achieve what you aim for you will achieve something close to it.

Make winning an habit, and failure will not be an option anymore.

Responsibility is the sign of maturity, it is the sign of accountability, and reliability. Any one who will get to heights of greatness, and attain any level of success in life must know that it is his sole responsibility to succeed or not. Until one realize, and understand that he is the only persons he needs to take approval from to succeed, he will never achieve anything great in life.

In the licencing office for greatness, every man is  his own licensing officer. Nobody has the right to determine whether you succeed or not, except you. You may not be responsible for what happen to you, but you are responsible for how you react to what happens to you. You are responsible for how your life turn out, you are the director of your own movie.

In becoming great, there are people who have gone ahead, they have been through what you are probably going through, have attained the status you dream to attain, and have the required experiences to guide you through, these people can be accorded their due respect as great achievers, they could be mentors, teachers, and guides who can help you become the best version of yourself, and help you achieve you desires.

Nav-Vii once said, “one day I realized that everything that I get out of life, is exclusively a result of my actions. That is the day I became a man.” The day you come to the realization that you are the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of “YOU Inc.” that day you start the journey to becoming what you what you were truly meant to be, and you start acting in consonance with what you want to be, which will activate everything you need to get you to your preferred destination

Marilyn Monroe once said, "a smile is the best makeup any girl can wear", and I say, "If smile is a makeup, then everybody should wear it." A smile covers your vulnerability, and emotional nakedness, it gives you the courage, and moral to forge ahead, deepens you heart of love, and care for others, and gives you a more beautiful face. Smiling heals us of our hurts, and gives those we smile at the courage to move on. 

The little, and intangible things of life are some of the most powerful, and most important things we could ever have, or give. Sherrilyn Kenyon was of the opinion that "one word can give someone the strength they needed at that moment or it can shred them down to nothing. A single smile can turn a bad moment good."

Joel Osteen once said "when you smile and project an aura of warmth, kindness, and friendliness, you will attract warms, kindness, and friendliness. Happy people will be drawn to you." When happy people are drawn to you, you become happy, when everyone is happy, happiness will multiply and will be spread far and wide.

It cost you nothing to smile, smile no matter what. Whatever is capable of taking away your smile, is not to be given too much attention, whatever you focus on magnifies, so take away your focus from what takes away your smile, focus on what gives you joy, and makes you smile. Smile more, love more, and live more.

Relationships are the currency of life, they are worth much more than what money, or wealth can provide. God, family, friends, acquaintances, colleagues, etal, are our real wealth, they enrich, and empower our lives, and are very critical, crucial, and integral to our success as individuals. The kinds of relationship we keep, and have will determine how far we will go in our life's journey.

There are toxic, and destructive relationships, but there are also profitable, and valuable relationships, the ones that will push us to the heights we have always dreamt, and thought of getting to, and even to levels we don't imagine we could get to. Our relationships supports, guides, advise, and strengthens us on our goals, dreams, and visions. We should therefore be careful of the relationships we keep, because it determines how far we go in life.

We must cherish our relationships more than anything else, they are the most important things in our life, possessions are good for our survival, and sustenance, but its fraction of importance is very diminutive. If we loose everything we have, but keep our relationships, we haven't lost anything. We have the currency to reclaim, recover, and retrieve all we lose if we have our relationships intact.

Berkshire Hathaway's CEO, Warren Buffett, shared some wisdom which can be related to relationships, he said, "the most important lesson and "the ultimate test" of a life well - lived has nothing to do with money and everything to do with the most powerful emotion a human being can feel: love." Love is the foundation of every relationship, without love, you can't have a true, and valuable relationship.

Cherish your relationships, they are your most valuable currency.

Motivation  is the reason, the benefit, or the intention for doing a thing, starting a course, or embarking on a journey. There is no endeavour that one embarks on in life that comes easy, achieving anything must be done through hard work, commitment, and determination, but sometimes one lacks the enthusiasm, courage, sense of purpose, and courage to move on, in these times one must go back to the reason for which he began that course, for that is where the motivation to continue can be found.

Zig Ziglar said, “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing, that’s why we recommend it daily.” If we must become the best we can be, we must always find ways of staying motivated, we must always wake up to the reality of the importance of daily motivation, we must continually push ourselves until we get to our desired destination.

Sometimes, we may get motivation from outside ourselves, we may be inspired to do, and be more by what we see, hear, or read, but without the internal drive, without self motivation, we would get nowhere. External motivation is not the real push we need, external motivation is like an ignition for self motivation. A vehicle with an ignition fault can be supported to ignition by pushing, but cannot be pushed to its destination, if you can, then you don't need the vehicle in the first place.

When you feel exhausted, anxious, weak, blank, and don't have the drive to move forward, when nothing else is going your way, and you feel like quitting, remember why you started, remember the pain you have already been through, and the effort you have put into that course, then ask yourself if you would allow all those effort, pain, and resources go to waste, if you would have done all you did for nothing. Keep moving forward keep pushing yourself, even when it is hardest, keeping pushing, "... Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly."

A Chinese Proverb says, "If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape a hundred days of sorrow." Patience is a virtue of wise men, that can save one days of anguish and sorrow, and anyone who allows anger to control him is not wise and will be destroyed. It is wisdom to control your mind when it is brewing anger, rather than being controlled by anger.

Anani Sunday once said, "anger misuses a man briefly, and leaves him to regret the consequences of his misguided actions", if one allows himself to be used by anger, he has not behaved wisely, and has also deprived himself of the opportunity to be happy. A minute of anger, is sixty seconds of negative living.

Anger does not allow the light of the mind to shine, it darkens the mind, and shuts down the growth of ideas, and positive thoughts, it does not give one the opportunity to do what is right, and expected of him. "When we are caught up in a destructive emotion, we lose one of our greatest assets: our independence." If you want to be free and happy never allow anger a space in your heart.

Anger does not harm the one to which it is directed as much as it would the one from whom it originates. If you would live in peace, and freedom of mind, and heart, anger must not be your companion, this way you will be happy, and live a good life.

You are a unique brand, you are not supposed to be among the crowd, being among the crowd reduces you, it diminishes your personality and makes you less of yourself. You are a star you must shine, your shining does not necessarily have to affect the shining of other stars, but you should not be caught not shining.

Matshona Dhliwayo once said, "A star does not compete with other stars around it; it just shines." You are not in a competition with anybody, but you must not relent on your strides to shine, you must work and ensure that you achieve that which you have always dreamt of. Your journey is different from that of anybody, just navigate your way through to your own destination.

Whenever you see yourself on the side of the majority, whenever you are becoming comfortable with what everybody is doing, and you are just as everyone else then, you know it is time to reflect, to think deep, to retreat, evaluate, and examine your journey to know if you are still on track your route to your desired future, or you have drafted away from your tracks.

Never leave your progress to chance, you are responsible for your growth and development, you are responsible for how far, and how well you go, and do in your life, so, you must take responsibility, and take charge of everything that you do. Your life should not be left to chance, but must be lived, and channeled by purpose. Someone once said, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” be yourself, and achieve greatness.

Mistakes are not exclusive to a group of people, everyone makes mistakes, but your class determines the kind of mistakes you make. Mistakes are ways by which life teaches us some important lessons that we would not have learnt if we had not done those mistakes. Although we work towards perfection, we must be ready, willing, and open to making mistakes, because mistakes teaches us maybe not what to do, but what not to do.

When mistakes are made, we must be ready to take responsibility for it, it shows how mature, and responsible we are; we must also not let the lessons in those mistakes be wasted , we must profit from it, we must understand that there is a lesson for us in whatever we do, whether right or wrong; all being said, we must have the courage to correct our mistakes, we must not let it slip without being corrected, and ensure it is not being repeated.

Catherine Pulsifer spoke about mistakes, she said, "We all make them, the difference is what we do after we make the mistake, how we see the mistake - a learning experience or a failure." How do you react to your mistakes, do you learn from it, or you beat yourself for it? Do you see it as an experience to teach you life, or as an event to bring you down? Your reaction to mistakes determine what you get from it.

Success may not easily be achieved until one has failed, life's experiences will not be complete without mistakes, we cannot properly guide, and advice others if we ourselves have not at one time made some mistakes on our journey to success. Sometimes, mistakes teaches us better what the best advice will not will not. Henry Ford said, "The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing."

If you have learnt from a mistake, you have only attended a life class, you haven't made a mistake.

Day 136 of wisdom

Everyday in life is a day of celebration, no day is better than another, but some days are more special. Every passing day is an opportunity to live a better life, it is a privilege to soar higher than the heights of yesterday, it is another day to celebrate. Elllen DeGeneres once said, “we should celebrate every year that we made it through and every year that we are happier and healthier.”

Someone once said, “A Birthday is a new beginning - A birthday is the first day of another lovely year, A year of new tomorrows that is shining, bright and clear, A year of possibilities as endless as the sky, and a chance to meet the challenges in everything you try.” For every new challenge, and every new day, there is a new you, there is a wiser, and better you, there is an endless opportunity to grow, and be better.

Without purpose birthdays are of no importance, a life that have not discovered purpose is not worth living. If our lives must be worth living, and celebrated, we must strive hard to discover, and live for the purpose for which we were born. William Barclay said, "There are two great days in a person's life - the day we are born and the day we discover why." We must ensure our years count for value, and positive impact, we should not only count the years, but make the years count by living a life of purpose.

However long or short a life is, what is most important is the impact it has had on everyone, and everything around. It is not the age that matters, it is what is done at every stage. As one grows in age, one must grow in knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, one must live and not just exist. We are born for a purpose we must live for that purpose.

Live, win, love, celebrate, smile, and make the best of your life.

Life is not a Television set that can be controlled by a remote, neither is it a movie that is written, and directed according to script, life is an unveiling of uncertainties. Things happen to us in life that are beyond our control, most times, we don't want some of those things to happen, but somehow they happen to us, the good thing about it is, we have the power to decide how we react to it.

A popular proverb says, “When life gives you lemons, use them to make lemonade” receiving lemons may not be under your control, but it is your responsibility to make the lemonade. Whenever we are hit by unpleasant situations, we can decide not to be reduced by such situations, we determine how we react to whatever situation that occurs to us. We can choose to see the positives in a negative situation.

Steve Jobs said in one of his speeches, "Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition."

Live your life the best way you can, it is your responsibility to make the best out of whatever happens to you, it is in your hands to keep going despite setbacks, it is in your powers to stand up when you fall, it is up to you to try again after you have failed, so, no matter what happens, you have within you all you need to excel, all you need to turn things around, all you need to move up higher. Never let people's opinion of you bring you down. It is not always easy, but it is worth going for, go for it, be what you want to be.

You being alive today, you being in your right mind, and you being able to read this, is a testament to the fact that you are a fighter. You might have gone through a lot, you might have been beaten, and battered, gone through some hard times, things might have been really tough and rough for you, being here today means you have won many battles, you might not have won all, and you are definitely still fighting some, you should know that if you have been able to win in the past, you can still win more.

Having gone through all you have been through, and won all the battles you have fought, you have not gotten that victory all by yourself, it is not your strength that has seen you through those difficulties, but the grace, and mercy of the Almighty. He has kept you and given you the strength to carry through, and He is willing to carry you through everything ahead of you. He hasn't promised you an hitch free journey, but He promised you His presence; that is all you need to win.

You must not take His mercy, and grace for granted, you must put in your all, you must be willing to carry on till the end, you must desire to win, you must not see the battle as the end, but you must see the victory after the battle. Look at everything you have been through, and have come out successful, look at the tragedies that have been turned to testimonies, you should not allow those experiences go to waste.

You don't fight to quit, you fight to win, you have suffered a lot, you should get a reward for your sufferings, you don't quit while the battle is on, you quit only when you have won. Whatever happens, win or loose, never give up until you win.

The journey to the future, to success, and greatness is not an easy one, it requires some extra forces to ensure that ones desired destination is reached, and in due time. Faith is one powerful force that is necessary for one to achieve anything in life. Without faith it is impossible to start a journey, without faith, all hopes will be just a mirage, but faith strengthens the heart, and gives one the believe that everything is possible.

Everything we know we have accepted, and believed through faith; every journey we started, we embarked on by faith; everything we have gotten we received by faith. Hebrews  11:1 said of faith that, “... faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” faith is seeing what is not as though it exists, it is the evidence that one has for an expectation.

Steve Harvey also said in one of his speeches that, “if you play safe in life, you are not going to have much of a life.” Truly, if you must live a fulfilling life, if you must live the life that makes you comfortable, if you must live the kind of life you truly want to live, you must be ready to take risks, and taking risk is a step of faith, taking risk is backed up with the believe that, things will work out the way we expect it to.

Although faith does not make a task, a journey, or an endeavour easy, it makes it possible. Faith gives life to an idea, it fleshes up dry bones, and gives hope to a discouraged mind. Faith is the key that opens the door to endless possibilities, and the actualization of the seemingly impossible

Christopher McDougall who made the story of the Lion and the Gazelle popular said that, “every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, it knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle - when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.”

One cannot survive life, nor be successful if one does not evolve with the happenings around. Situation changes, things happen, so must one adapt to changes, evolve with time, and compete for what is rightfully yours or be left behind. Life is not a competition, but if you don't compete you may die, you may be put out of business, you may be relegated to the bottom, you must be forgotten.

If you must stay relevant in a world that is constantly evolving, you must make deliberate efforts to become better than you were yesterday, you are your own biggest competition, you must strive to better the you of yesterday, or you will be in your past while others are moving forward. Just like Christopher McDougall suggested, “... whether you're the lion or a gazelle - when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.”

Every new day demands a better version of you, every new level demands that you step up your game, because that is the only way winning can be assured. You must learn to adapt to changes, evolve with the times, and compete for your place, or else you will be deprived of what is rightfully yours.

Life is like a puzzle woven in paradoxical tapestry. Sometimes, the way we see life, may appear to us as the real meaning, and value of life, but when we take a deeper look, a different perspective to see what life really entails we discover that life is so much of a deeper meaning, and difficult to understand.

Life is best lived by expression through actions, and not by words of mouth. Life is meant to be lived, not to be spoken about, life is meant to be experienced not read about. We must live our lives the best way we can, we must live to express our true self, to impact our world with the greatness within us, that we may leave the world a better place than we met it.

Elisabeth Kubler-Ross wrote, "The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen."

Those who live life to the fullest are those who have truly experienced life. They have been to the bottom of the valley, and the top of the mountains, they have seen the depths of the sea, and the heights of the sky, they have experienced the good, and the bad and have become better for it. Don't just pass through life, don't just describe life, live more, love more, for these are what we are made for.

The greatest discovery any man can have is self discovery. A man who has not discovered himself, does not know what he can, or cannot do. If we must live productive, fulfilling, and fruitful lives, we must know ourselves, we must be aware of what makes us attain our best level of consciousness, and effectiveness.

Knowing yourself means understanding your strengths and weaknesses, your passions and fears, your desires and dreams. It means being aware of your eccentricities and idiosyncrasies, your likes and dislikes, and your tolerances and limitations. Knowing yourself means knowing your purpose in life.

We can not really love ourselves, and others if we do not know our own self, we can not function at our best if we do not know our own deepest secret. We are a product of our own behaviour, character, and attitude. If our current situation and condition does not satisfy us, we must strive for a change, and if we will have a change we will have to change those things which cumulation we have become.

Ancient Greek philosopher Socrates once declared that, "the unexamined life was not worth living." A life that has not been discovered does not have a reason to live for, it only wanders the surface of the earth, and therefore cannot be of much use to the world. Purpose is embedded in self discovery, discover yourself, and your purpose will be defined.

Every man born into the world was born for a specific, and definite purpose. It is very important that one discovers, and follow his purpose in life. Fulfilling purpose would require that one follow his heart, that you do what makes you happy, and give you internal joy, and peace of mind.

One who hasn't discovered his purpose in life can afford to live life anyhow, because his living is not attached to a purpose, but a man whose purpose has been discovered, and knows exactly the reason for his existence will not live life just anyhow, he will be definite and directional in his living.

Living by a compass is living by direction, it is living purposefully, and in pursuit of ones desired goal. You must not allow yourself be forced into decisions that are not pursuant of your purpose in life. Living by a clock is being conscious of what should have been, or what you think you should have gotten irrespective of the process, it is wanting to achieve a result that you haven't worked for.

Life isn't a competition, you should not get into the rat race to achieve what everyone else is pursuing, or achieving, you should run, work, and plan on how to achieve your life purpose, and how to ensure you are not living another man's life. Winning the rat race they say, "does not make you anything more than a rat",

Live a life of direction, not a life of competition.

One derives great pleasure in completed tasks, we are so much joyous when we begin a project and successful achieve its completion. Flipping the coin, the greatest weariness we often have are from things we left undone, and unattended to. We become so pained when we realize what we have missed, or missing when we should have done something, but didn't.

In life, the best way to avoid nail biting regrets, is by attending to, and seeing to the accomplishment of projects, tasks, and programs. Sometimes, our neglects of things we should have done but left undone always hunt us, and sometimes does so much harm to our courage, and confidence that we may begin to think we can not achieve, or do what we should be doing.

We are here to cause a difference, to create change, to make life better for the people around us, and those coming behind us, to leave the world a better place than we met it. We must therefore not fold our arms and allow time to pass without doing what we are meant to do. Our abilities, strengths, and intellects should not be allowed to waste, we must let them perform at their optimum best.

If we must live a happy, fulfilled, and worry free life, we must begin to put our ideas into valuable and profitable actions, we must begin to do more than we have ever done, we must never relent on doing good. Life is not always about what you receive, or get; life is about what you give, and do for others. An happy life, is a life that makes others happy.

Ignorance is the lack of knowledge, or information. It is a recipe for unprecedented disaster, and destruction. Sometimes, the most ignorant people are the most confident people, they are so confident in their stupidity, and go about sharing their ignorance, with all eagerness; this is the reason for so much ignorance in the world.

Ignorance is so deadly that the ignorant one never sees a reason to learn, understand, or be properly informed. As Charles Darwin opined, “Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved.”

Growth is inhibited in an ignorant mind, because it is always afraid of change, and does not know what the alternatives are, it does not know what really is, neither does it know what could be. One who is ignorant is dead but thinks he lives; he thinks he knows but knows nothing at all, and does not make any effort to know.

One who will be free from the bondage, and danger of ignorance must make deliberate, and determined effort to learn, be informed, and acquire adequate knowledge. As Napoleon Bonaparte said, "the only victories which leave no regret are those which are gained over ignorance." Victory over ones foes could not be so sweet and enjoyed, but victory over ignorance is liberation and true freedom.

The greatest asset a man has is his mind, the mind is the most powerful, and most potent tool at your disposal, your usage of it determines how high you will grow, and how far you will go, but without your body your mind can't be any effective. The body is the vehicle through which the mind carries out all its tasks.

Even an imperfect body can achieve whatever the mind can conceive. A disabled body is not disabled unless the mind tells it so. Disability is not being unable to do a thing, it is only being differently able to do that thing. The mind is one of the major source of strength for the body, whatever the mind tells the body it can do, the body needs only to get to work and that thing will be done.

The mind therefore, being a source of strength for the body needs also to be strengthened, just like you take proper care of your body by washing, feeding, and covering, the mind must be fed with new ideas, innovative thoughts, and refreshing motivational and inspirational materials to enhance and build up its productivity, and effectiveness. We must not neglect the nourishment of the mind, as it determines what levels, and heights the body will get to.

Mahatma Gandhi once said, "I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet." We should therefore protect our mind from external pollutants, and corruptor, we must guide it with all care to ensure it remains intact and in soundness. When the mind is weak, the body is weak, but when the mind is strong, the body also is strong. So, strengthen your mind.

Day 125 of wisdom

In a world that constantly seek doers, movers, shakers, and actors it s no longer enough to be a professor, it is no longer enough to know, or be willing to do a thing, it is now expedient that we act. There are too many people who are knowledgeable about variety of things, but have not made any impact on their environment, and its people through their knowledge; there are too many voices, that must becomes actors.

Many have ideas, but are not implementing, many are willing but aren't doing anything. If the world must experience change, if we would see a better world, we must go beyond the willingness, and the ideas, we must start to act. Francois de La Rochefoucauld once said, “thinkers think and doers do. But until the thinkers do and the doers think, progress will be just another word in the already overburdened vocabulary by sense.”

If we must be progressive, we must take the initiative to cause change, we don't have to wait until all conditions are perfect before we act, we must get to work the moment we are awakened to the ills that must be corrected, we need not wait for the right time, nor the best opportunity to arise, we must create the environment that favours our course. Time waits for no one, and lives could depend on our actions for survival, or growth, but our inactions could deprive people of that.

We are the change the world is waiting for, must not become quiet, we must not be intimidated, we must start to act for if we do not, we would have failed our generation, and those behind us. Don't just wish, act.

Day 124 of wisdom

Life is in stages, the future opens in pages, as we grow in ages, we receive our wages, the work done in your early ages, determines the size of your wages. Our future life is always determined by how we live our present life. The future is not a cluster of times that comes suddenly on us, but a uniquely revealing time that starts the moment after the present. Every passing day was a future of the day gone by.

If we hope to have a good future, we must start to work now on the future of our dreams, we must have a picture, and a preview of our desired destination, and draw out workable plans on how to reach that future. Today's actions determines our future, we can alter our future by altering our actions. If we are not satisfied by our today we can make our tomorrow better by becoming better than we were yesterday.

Life should not be lived in haste, we ought to live our lives, one day at a time. The future rushes no one, we should therefore not allow ourselves to be ruled by a panicky nor anxious heart, for confusion, and misjudgment comes with panic, and anxiety. The best future is the one that is lived with utmost care, calmness, patience, and adequate plan.

Though the future may be blurry, uncertain, and doubtful, it is not in our powers to determine if we get to the future or not, but what is in our powers is how the future will be if we do get there. We can write our future by what we do with our now. One does not get to another destination if he does not depart his current location. Start the journey, draw a plan, and move on with courage, soon you will be at your destination.

Leadership is not about titles, position, rank, or office; leadership is about responsibility, influence, and effect. Stature, skin colour, age, and wealth are irrelevant when leadership is being discussed. A leader is someone who takes responsibility not just for himself, but for others also. Someone who cares, is empathetic, and loving, someone who seeks the best for others.

However successful a man is, he is not a leader if he cannot replicate his success in another man. World renowned leadership expert, and coach John C. Maxwell opined that, “a successful person finds the right place for himself. But a successful leader finds the right place for others.” Being a successful leader is making others successful.

Every man has a circle of influence, he can either choose to be among the crowd within  his circle of influence, or stand out, and lead the crowd through differing means, skills, and means of leadership. He can take on the responsibility to liberate, enlighten, educate, unite, or do whatever may be necessary for the growth, progress, and success of those in his circle of influence.

If by your actions, others are inspired to be more, eager to learn more, dream to be better persons, and encouraged to live their best life, you are a leader. You need no coronation, induction, installation or swearing in, you are already leading, and you should not be discouraged in continuing your leadership deeds, but keep building yourself to be a better version of yourself, and you will find more space for growth and development.

Leadership is everything, as John Maxwell said, “everything rises, and falls on leadership.” Take the mantle, take the lead.

Day 122 of wisdom

What you get from life is dependent on what you focus on. You can determine, write, and rewrite your life through your actions and inaction. The most important things in our life should get our deepest and highest attention. We must focus on what we want most in life so we can attract exactly what out hearts desire.

Life is a mixture of positives and negatives, whatever you focus on develops. Focus is a great force that helps one achieve great result, but when one lacks focus great effort goes to waste. When sun rays are converged through a lens to focus on a particular object, it can set such object ablaze, but because sun rays are dispersed over large areas, its strength is weakened and only has an heating effect on the objects reached.

If you want to achieve greatness in any field, you have to be focused on what you hope to achieve, you have to fix your gaze on greatness, look up to great men for mentoring, counseling,  and guidance, because you become great by associating with greatness, and learning from great people.

As you work towards success, if you encounter failure, start the journey again, give the course another try, format your past, reinvent a new you, and push forwards, this way you will never be deprived of success, and greatness.
