Day 230 of wisdom

“There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.”

Beverly Sills

There is no temporary solution to a permanent problem. Every problem that must be solved must be attended to with a lasting, and sustainable strategy. Someone once said, "if you take shortcuts you will be cut short" the only guarantee to a permanent, and long lasting result is to ensure that you have a done what must be done to get to where you want to be.

J.R.R. Tolkien aptly puts "Short cuts make long delays." if one decides to go through the short routes to his desired destination he most likely will encounter the longest delays. Life most times have a way of turning short cuts into long routes. Achieving success is not the most important thing in life, what we become on our journey towards achieving success is what is most important.

You cannot build a house by starting from the roof, the one and only way to erect a building is to start from the foundations, and build to the top one element at a time. Shortcuts are dangerous cuts, they either lead nowhere, or to a temporarily satisfying destinations, and eventually turn out to be the longest routes.

In the words of Nicky Verd, "Success is built over-time not over-night" it takes tangible amount of time, with patience, dedication, and hard work to build, and to reach heights of greatness, and relevance. Anything worth doing at all is worth doing well. If you have to do anything, do it to the best of your ability. It is in going the distance, and engaging in every activity on the way that we reap the benefit, and dividend of the journey.
