The destiny of a Nation is in the hands of her youths. A generation that must rise will do so on the backs of vibrant, determined, focused group of young people. Any Nation that disregards, or despise her youth has her future in jeopardy, it will not achieve its full potential, but a Nation who is ready to develop her youth, and give them the opportunity to lead will surely grow.
Our society has not been fair on her youths, they have not been given the opportunity to grow, develop, and become the best they should be, yet great expectations are required of them. Rachel Jackson once said, “Our youth are not failing the system; the system is failing our youth. Ironically, the very youth group who are being treated the worst are the young people who are going to lead us out of this nightmare.” we might not have received all we needed, we must not fail ourselves, if our generation does not rise we must be blamed, we may not be responsible for our bondage, but we must take responsibility for our liberation.
In the words of Robert Kennedy “This world demands the qualities of youth: not a time of life but a state of mind, a temper of the will, a quality of imagination, a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease.” Youthfulness is not about age, it is the state of ones mind; it is the quality, depth, and strength of our imagination; and the tenacity of our will. We must stand courageous becaw fear paralyzes strength.
As youths, we must begin to act; we must take up the courage to fight; the liberation, peace, and growth of our generation is in our hands, we must rise up to the task, and save our world, because if we do not, no one else will, like Bono said, “This is a time for bold measures. This is the country, and you are the generation.”
