366 days of wisdom (August 09, 2020)

Day 222 of wisdom

“In the time we have it is surely our duty to do all the good we can to all the people we can in all the ways we can.”

William Barclay

Life is too short to waste any part of it; the time we have in it is too long not to make any reasonable impact before leaving; life is too good not to do good to everyone we come across, at all times in every way we can. Doing good is the ultimate duty of man to  his fellow men. Anyone who does good receives good, and anyone who does evil receives evil.

In every way we must not be weary in doing good for if we cease to do good to others we will cease to receive good, because whatsoever a man sows he will reap. Doing good is not only in what we give, or do to others, it is also about what we say, how we make them feel, and how we relate to them in periods when they need someone to lift them up. Doing good to others is not just about them, it is also about us.

Someone once said, “one day you will be just a memory for some people, do your best to be a good one” what  kind of memory do you want people to have of you when you finally go away, when you are no more, and the only thing they can remember of you is the things you have done. You determine the story people will tell of you so do your best to live a life that will leave good, and pleasant stories about you.

Your happiness, joy, peace of mind, and good health is enhanced when you make doing good an habit, and a way of life. When you do good to someone, you inspire that person to do good to others, and in so doing multiply good actions. It is very important that you take note of your actions towards the people around you, and give an answer to this very important, and urgent question asked by Martin Luther King Jr. “What are you doing for others?”
