NO STAR WITHOUT A SCAR

The formation of stars never happens in serenity. Every star is formed in chaos and violence. It begins with the gravitational collapse of large, cold clouds of gas and dust called molecular clouds. When a clump within the cloud becomes dense enough, gravity causes it to contract, forming a spinning, hot core called a protostar. The protostar continues to accumulate mass and heat up until its core reaches millions of Kelvin, at which point nuclear fusion of hydrogen into helium begins, and the object becomes a fully-formed star.

No star is without a scar, and its light is literally born from its wounds. Look at your own scars, the failure, the losses, the rejections, the setbacks, the dreams, the criticisms, and everything you pushed for, worked towards, and wanted, but crumbled, they are the things that has built you into who you are, they have helped you rebuild your crumbled mansion from its rubbles into an elegant, and enviable castle.

Your scars are not the opposite of your brilliance; they are the proof of it. They are the evidence of your fusion, your resilience, and the immense pressures you have withstood. The collapse of a dream is often the very compression needed to ignite a fiercer, more determined fire within you. The tearing apart of a plan can be the supernova that scatters the seeds of a new and more resilient you across the landscape of your life.

Do not hide your scars, do not apologize for them, rather flaunt them as the price for your medals. The resilience you have today, was forged in the fires of past hardships; the empathy you offer, was carved out by your own experience of pain; and the unique perspective you bring, is the light filtered through the cracks in your old self. Your scars are the map of the battles fought, the pressures endured, and the collapses survived. It is the source of your shine. Your light is not in spite of your scars, your light is because of them; shine on.

To a better you, Kamikun John.
