RESIST WHAT YOU DON'T WANT

Your power does not begin in the frantic pursuit of everything you think you should want, but in the quiet, deliberate act of vehemently resisting the things you do not want. It is the active creation of the life that you choose, by defining it clearly by boundaries, paths, and destination. If you do not resist external noise you cannot hear your own music; if you do not shut out doubters they will infect you with their unbelief; if you do not march, you will not move.

Every time you agree to something that diminishes you, you hand over a piece of your territory to that thing. When you say yes to the activities that drains you, the community that belittles you, the compromise that erodes your values, you are not being polite, you are surrendering. Resisting what you don't want is the act of having the courage disagree with what you detest in the moment in order to remain whole and integrated with yourself in the long run.

The most difficult thing to do in today's world is to go against the current, you may have to swim in the opposite direction, or even sideways in the direction of your own purpose and destiny. There is a path for the crowd, but there is a path for those who have their sight set on a destination that is uncommon. With every stroke against the current, with every step you are not just moving away from what you don't want; you are actively moving towards the person you are meant to be.

Embrace the power of your resolve, let it be clean, clear, specific, and firm. It is the chisel that sculpts the masterpiece of your life from the block of possibility. Every time you resist a demand that is not yours, a path that is not true, or a version of yourself that is not authentic, you are not being negative, you are performing a radical act of self-creation. Your life is not defined by what you accept, but by what you have the courage to refuse.

To a better you, Kamikun John.
