Carpe Diem
SEIZE THE DAY
"Carpe Diem", the latin expression for the statement "seize the day" is a call to action, a call to make hay while the sun shines, to take full advantage of the opportunity in the present. Life is fleeting, tomorrow is not promised and the present moment is all we truly have. Yesterday will replay its regrets, and tomorrow will face you with its anxieties, but you must fix your mind and gaze on the now, and embrace the present.
Today, you enjoy the presence of family, the laughter of friends, the brightness of the morning sun, and many more noiseless blessings. All these come in fragments, but when pieced together, it forms the real essence of our lives and existence. Mahatma Gandhi once said, "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." Living for the moment, and learning for tomorrow help you maximise today, and prepare you for what is ahead tomorrow.
Do not allow the worries, anxieties, and fear of tomorrow use up your today, it would be a waste of a fraction of your life. If you do not start, you cannot get ahead. A train once in motion will not be stopped. Get on the tracks, pursue your dreams, wake up from your slumber, the best time to create the future you desire is not tomorrow, but today. The thing you do not start cannot be finished. The race you never ran, cannot be won.
Time slips through our fingers like sand, and the only moment we can truly grasp is this one that we have. So, grab the gift of now, not with fear, but with wonder, passion, and gratitude. The art of living is the art of being present. Enjoy everything today has to offer; the failure, the obstacles, the storms, and the turbulence, they are building you up for tomorrow's success, teaching you the lessons that will help you navigate tomorrow's challenges, and setting you up for progress. Seize the day, before it slips away.
To a better you, Kamikun John.
