DON'T GLORIFY YOUR PROBLEMS

Problems are like a global taxes, and every one pays this tax as long as they are alive. It is therefore not a problem to have problems, but where it becomes a problem is when we start to glorify our problems more than our ability, capacity, and possibilities. People now wear their stress like a badge, as though it is the key; they now make problem something that they identify with, and boast of. This is actually dangerous and unhealthy.

You don't glorify the things that hold you down, you don't glorify your obstacles, you deal with them and find a way to take them off your path. Your problems are not your crown, they are not medals of honour, they are not what make you interesting or deep. The things that make you remarkable is not the weight you carry, but the strength you develop by lifting it. The focus should be on the lift, and how it is achieved, not the load, or the weight of it.

When you glorify your problems, you make a subtle but critical shift; you move from being a solution-seeker to being a storyteller of your own suffering, shame, and pain. You begin to derive a sense of purpose from the struggle itself, rather than from the growth that lies on the other side of it. Your identity becomes entangled with the very thing that is holding you back rather than the drive that is pushing you forward.

Your life is not a museum for pain, pressure, and problems, it is a living, breathing, evolving masterpiece in progress. The dark colours of your struggles are necessary for contrast, but they are not the entire painting. Stop telling the story of how heavy your burden is, start telling the story of how strong you are becoming. Don't glorify the problems that anchor you to a spot, learn from those what have mastered the act of beating their problems, and sailing through the storm.

To a better you, Kamikun John.
