Protect what matters
DON'T LET YOUR LIFE LEAK AWAY
Nothing gets damaged in an instant, it is a gradual process towards degradation, destruction, and dissolution. A dam does not get emptied all at once, but slowly, silently dripping away until it is left with nothing. Dreams do not go to waste until there is a folding of the arms to do nothing, sleeping and slumbering, and allowing time to slip away without putting it to use.
You check your phone constantly, not for anything in particular, just a reflex. You scroll through a river of people's vacations, achievements, political views, and curated social media lifestyles. Minutes dissolve, and then hours, and before you know, the day is gone, and the most important things in your life remain unattended, and you are serenaded by feelings of dissatisfaction that come from doing, and achieving nothing.
Today, we trade our realities, our finite attention, the very currency of our lives for infinite distraction. We now live on algorithms instead of feeding, and building our curiosity; we tie our happiness and value to social media likes, instead of real human connections. We become so preoccupied with capturing our moment for a future audience such that we forget to fully live in the present. Don't mistake being informed for being engaged, don't confuse a busy calendar for a full life, the leak thrives in this confusion.
Your life is not a video playing in the background while you scroll through the comments, it is the main event, and it is the only one you get. Stop letting it leak away, be present, live in the now, feel the weight of this moment, the sound of your own breath, the potential of the next hour. Turn off the tap of distraction that drains you of your attention, and turn your attention towards real connection with people, turn on your passions, and experience the life you were truly meant to live.
To a better you, Kamikun John.
