Track your progress
AUDIT YOUR YEAR
Auditing your year is not an opportunity to judge yourself, it is not the time to be accused by the ghost of January's resolutions that you failed to bring to life; rather, it is time to pick up the compass, recalibrate, restrategise and go again. It takes courage to do an audit. Only a person who is intentional about where he is and where he wants to be will take time to evaluate his journey, to check his location on the map against his destination.
You have sailed through calm waters, you have sailed through stormy seas you never saw coming; you have adjusted your sail, sometimes by choice, sometimes by necessity. Detours are not deviations, they are necessary milestones that build you for the journey ahead, and understanding them is crucial to progress. However, we must focus on the distance covered, not just the destination missed.
Look at the gap between your intentions and your reality, but do so with the curiosity, not with scorn. You wanted to run a marathon, but you walked three miles a week, that is not a failure, but effort. You aimed for a promotion, but you learned to set boundaries instead; that is not a shortfall, but gradual movement toward sustainability. Celebrate the unexpected wins, the resilience you found in a crisis, the simplicity you discovered when plans fell apart; honour failures that taught you more than success ever could.
You are not the same person you were in January, you have been weathered and warmed; you have missed your way, and found your way back on track; you have been denied but persisted. Auditing your journey is a sign of respect for that journey. It is a way of closing the chapter with gratitude for the story, and clarity for the one about to begin. Open your heart to a honest, compassionate review. You are not on trial, you are in conversation with the person you have been, to better guide the person you are becoming.
To a better you, Kamikun John.
