A chance for the final push
THE BEGINNING OF THE END
Every beginning always has an end, and every end always ushers in a new beginning. However, as the end draws closer, there is a need to perform an assessment of what the journey so far has been like, the progress made, achievements, and shortfalls. At times, we might have set big goals, planned grand breaking projects, and envisaged a successful journey, but in the end we fall short of our plans. That does not mean we have not moved, but that there is more to be done.
Ends can feel like newness, it can sometimes feel like a breath of fresh air, and another opportunity for a final shot; but as the stick becomes shorter, pressure begins to mount, we begin to see the failure, the should haves, and everything that has not worked out. We tend to blame ourselves, others, and our situation, but the truth is, have we remained stagnant? In many cases, we have made reasonable progress,, and achieved great success, but not according to our own judgement, then we tend to discard what we have achieved.
The beginning of the end is a gift, though it can feel like one is being haunted by time, it is a period of grace, however painful; it is the way we are being reminded of the need for retrospection before the eventual end. It is a chance to adjust the adjustable, correct the correctible, do what can be done, and let go of what cannot be done. It is the slow turning of the page before the chapter is closed out.
We must learn to listen for the stillness, to respect the passing of time, for in these lies the terrible, but beautiful truth that an ending, once begun, is also the first, raw, and necessary step toward whatever must come next. The world is made of these transitions, the goodbyes that make room for the uncertain hello. The end is never where we stop, it is simply where we gather ourselves into the consciousness of an end, before turning to face the new, unformed beginning.
