DON'T GET BUSY, GET PRODUCTIVE
Running on a treadmill at 50km per hour does not necessarily get you anywhere. It might have an effect on your physical and mental health, but it does not mean you are making any progress on the ground. Being busy does not translate to being productive. You can fill your day with tasks, meetings, and endless to-do lists, but if you are not moving the needle toward your goals, you are just spinning your wheels, you are just running on the treadmill. True success is not about activity, it is about what your activity is producing.
Busy people are reactive people, they attend to situations that come to them as needing attention or as an emergency; they multitask all in the name of getting so much done; they also work long hours trying to complete tasks. Meanwhile, productive people prioritize what they spend their time doing, they do not just get into tasks, they ensure it is essential to their end goal; they would rather focus on one crucial task and get it done, than to jump from one to the other; Productive people work smart hours, they schedule their time appropriately, achieve their goals, and move on to their next target.
Be ruthless in setting your priorities, not everything deserves your time. Focus on the most crucial tasks that drive the greater chunk of your desired results. Eliminate distractions from your activities, create an atmosphere that inspires, and breeds productivity. Success is not about how many hours you work, it is about what you accomplish in those hours. Burnout kills productivity, do not overwork yourself, create time to relax, recharge and return sharper.
The most successful people in the world are not really the busiest, they are the most intentional. They do not confuse motion with progress. They know that working hard for long hours is not the answer to success, but working smart. They understand that progress, and productivity is not achieved through stressful and overloaded routines, but on focused, careful, and intentional routines, not on a busy schedule, but on purpose driven timelines.
To a better you, Kamikun John.
