LESS CAN BE MORE
The world today often equates success with excess, or abundance, more possessions, more work, more commitments, more noise, but the truth is, less can sometimes be more. At times, what we need more than excess is less, when we strip away the unnecessary, the ambiguous, the frivolities, we uncover clarity, purpose, and even beauty, we enter into the abundance of what is actually important, necessary, and useful.
Most of the most unique, dynamic, iconic, and priceless substances, designs, and features in nature and the world around us are actually the simplest and the most uncomplicated. Check out Apple's iconic logo, though simple is worth something close to a fortune, if not a fortune. Water is so simple, yet, without it the world can barely survive. When we remove the extraneous from what we do and create, we amplify what truly matters.
When we are bent on creating more, acquiring more, having more, we would begin to unconsciously accumulate the stuff we do not need, we would begin to go for the irrelevant things. A cluttered space drains focus, while a tidy one fosters calm, and productivity. A heavily loaded to-do list will eventually leave us with an unproductive end, because we would have little room for deep thought or joy, meanwhile, intentional simplicity creates space for meaningful experiences.
Less can be more, less can sometimes be better, it is not about deprivation, it is about refinement, it is about pruning, it is about eliminating excesses, it is choosing quality over quantity, focus over distraction, and intentionality over fate and circumstances. When we let go of the unnecessary, we make room for what enriches us, we allow space for the things that we have always desired and dreamt of. Less is not just more, most times, less is just enough.
To a better you, Kamikun John.
