YOU CAN'T HIT A TARGET YOU DON'T HAVE
Success does not just happen by accident, it is the reward for deliberate, intentional, and determined hardwork. In every human endeavour, achieving success begins with a clear, defined target, a destination towards which one gravitates purposefully. Setting a target, having a goal, is the first step toward growth. Without a goal, effort becomes directionless, progress becomes accidental, and success remains elusive.
One does not embark on a voyage without a destination, a compass for direction. A well-defined goal acts like a compass, it gives direction. Imagine an archer shooting arrows without a target. No matter how skilled he is, his efforts are all in vain, because there is nothing to aim for, there is no purpose to his actions. The same applies to life. Without clarity of purpose, direction, and target, time, effort, and resources are scattered, leaving one frustrated and disappointed.
Many people work hard but see little progress because they have not set a specific objective. Success is not just about effort, it is about focused effort. Without a target one will struggle to measure progress, but when you define what you want, every action becomes purposeful.
When we do not have a specific target at which we aim, we become more reactive to life rather than proactively taking steps and measures towards our goals. Days blur into years, years into decades, and before you know it, you have wandered about without ever arriving at any particular destination, but when you set a goal, no matter how ambitious it may be, you give yourself a fighting chance. So, take aim. Define your target. Then shoot with everything you have got. Like Michelangelo once said, "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we hit it." Set a high target, "as Norman Vincent Peale advised, "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars."
To a better you, Kamikun John.
