YOU DON'T GO DOWN WHEN YOU LIFT OTHERS UP.
In construction, working at height always require the erection of scaffolds. A scaffold is a temporary platform that help workers work comfortably at height. In erecting a scaffold, certain safety measures has to be taken to ensure the safety of all the men and materials on that scaffold. The scaffolder who erects the scaffold can not erect that scaffold staying on the ground. The higher the scaffold will go, the higher the scaffolder have to go, and he and his team are responsible for getting all the parts of the scaffold to the various heights they are needed.
As long as the scaffold is standing, the scaffolder, his team, and anybody who have the right, the ability, the need, and the skill to ascend that scaffold would be able to reach the height that the scaffold allows them. A man who helps others grow, who provide a platform for others to go higher, and lift others up, will always have access to the top at will, whenever he desires. Someone who help others cannot be helpless when in need of help. He may not receive the help from those he expect but he will surely be helped.
You can not lift another man's hand while your hand is down, your hand have to be up for it to lift another's, and this is how strength is forged. We are as strong as our weakest link, and we can only build strength when we help each other grow; we can only go up when we lift others up. Like Robert Ingersoll said, "We rise by lifting others." When we have the opportunity to help others become better than they are and we refuse to, we will one day regret that action, when we need someone in a position that we might have helped some people get to.
There is no gain in bringing people down, in fact, you have to be down to drag another person down, you must be in the mud to drag someone else into the mud, this is a lose lose. Life has a way of paying people back with what they have given, and sown. So, if you want happiness, make others happy; if you want success, help others to become successful. If you want to go up, help other go up. Our actions today are the seeds of our harvest tomorrow, and if we want to have a good, desirable harvest, we must sow delightful and desirable seeds.
