IT IS NOT HOW YOU START BUT HOW YOU FINISH.
In a marathon, the man who wins the race is not always the man who got off the mark all guns blazing, and speeds off, it is not always the strongest man, but the man who understands the techniques, and strategies of how to run a marathon successfully. Sometimes, people rush off to start a journey or an endeavour without knowing what it takes to embark on that journey, and go through it successfully, they just think they could sail through without having prerequisite knowledge of what they are getting themselves into.
Planning is an essential part of any endeavour, without planning failure is an highly probable outcome. As much as growth, adaptation, and upgrading one's self during a journey as the journey unfolds and we know and see better is essential, we can not downplay the importance of proper planning. It is not enough to start a journey well, it is not enough to be the first off the mark, and show very good signs of progress in the early stages of a journey, but begin to lag behind when it matters most.
The end is the most important part of any journey, how well you finish is what determines your reward, not how well you started. It does not matter how you started; it does not matter where you started from; it does not matter what you have or did not have when you started, what matters most is how well you finish. Gary Ryan Blair once said,. “You can’t finish what you don’t start, and you should never start what you are not committed to finish.” If you do not start, you will never finish, and if you are not willing to commit to finishing never start.
It is not always easy to keep going on when the journey gets tougher, but giving up is not anything to be considered. We must continue to move forward, it is in those tough moments that we can develop real strength and bring out the best in us. We must turn our potentials into tangible working power pushing us towards our desired goal. If you ever started, ensure you finish well; if you ever dared, never back down when it gets touch; it is not how you start that matters, it is how you finish, so finish well, and finish strong.
