Happiness does not come from material possessions, neither does it come from outside a man, happiness is a self and internally generated phenomenon, it does not come from what a man receives, but what he produces; it does not come from his abundance but his contentment; happiness is a gift that one must always give to himself, no one can give anyone happiness.
An attitude of contentment is a necessity if one would be a happy person, Benjamin Franklin once said, "Content makes poor men rich; discontent makes rich men poor." Whatever one has cannot be enough if he is not contented with it, rich or poor is not really what is available it is a state of mind.
Dolly Parton in her song, 'coat of many colours' sang of how she wore rags sown by her mother so proudly, and although they had no money, she was rich as she could be, in her coat of many colours sown for her by her mother. Our thoughts and state of mind on the things we have, and that which we do not have determines how we respond to life, and how we respond determines what we emit.
You have your best life within you, live it out; you have all that you need to live your best life, use it well; life may be tough, but until you allow yourself to see the beauty of life, you will never live life like you should. Live happily with contentment, in pure bliss, and joy, free yourself of pain, let go of everything that holds you down. Do not let people's opinion of happiness determine yours, define your happiness, and live your life to the fullest.
