TACT
In dealing with people, things, and situations, we need some specific and special skills to be able to deal rightly and appropriately. We need to see happenings and events from different points, perspectives, and not just a myopic, selfish, and naive dimension. We must envision things the way others would so we can make better decisions and judgements.
Being tactful requires a lot of wisdom, experience, and knowledge. It is knowing what to do and say, and knowing how best to do and say it. TACT is a necessary survival skill on the battlefield to greatness, like Wilson Mizner said, "In the battle of existence, Talent is the punch; Tact is the clever footwork." You cannot depend only on talent for survival, you must know how to use your talent to get what you want from life.
Life does not take things easy with the easy and lackadaisical, but a tactful man would deal with life in such manners that would make paths clear, and make the curves straight, and the hard soft. Twentieth century American writer, William Gilmore Simms once said, Tact is one of the first mental virtues, the absence of it is fatal to the best talent." Without TACT there is no mental growth and progression.
Work on your mental strength and abilities; develop the ability to tell others things as they see it, and not just as you see it. Your mental strength determines how far you will go in life, it determines what you get from life. Be a fool, but think wisely; be a weakling but never give up your strength; lay low, but never allow yourself to be trampled upon; be tactful in your dealings, it will take you as far as you want to go.
