Day 209 of wisdom
“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.”
Joseph Campbell
I am sure you remember the name, 'Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin' very well... actually, I doubt you do, but Neil Armstrong instantly rings a bell, he was the first man to step foot on the moon, while Edwin Aldrin was the second man. In fact, they were on the same carrier into the moon, Aldrin only stepped foot on the moon few minutes after Armstrong, but history does not pay enough respect to Aldrin for his feat. People rarely remember second place, copies are not always recognized nor valued.
Being the person God created you to be is the greatest, and only real achievement you can ever have in life, anything short of that is a waste of time, and all the resources invested into you. You have a place on earth where only you have to fill, you have a purpose for which only you was created. You were created, and made an original to make an original, and exceptional impact in the world, do not waste that originality.
A copy can never be as valuable as the original no matter how real it looks, or seem like. Life is not just about achieving success, it is about achieving your life's purpose, don't just strive to be successful, rather strive to be valuable: adding real value to the lives of people you come across. It is a rare, and valuable privilege to become what you were created to become, so, do not take it for granted, or trade it for anything else.
Jonathan L. Huie puts it concisely when he said, “It's not in the doing, it's in the being. Whatever you do or don't do in your lifetime, your greatest contribution to current and future generations will be the happiness and joy you generated and radiated to those around you.” Be the best you can be of yourself, create as much value as you can, impact all the lives you can, believe in your abilities, never seek to be like anyone else, if you do not become you, no one else will.
