366 days of wisdom (July 19, 2020)

Day 201 of wisdom

“So long as you have food in your mouth, you have solved all questions for the time being.”

Franz Kafka

Man is wired to naturally wants so many things, but it is impossible to satisfy human wants. Man basically needs only a few things to survive; food, shelter, and clothing, once these things are taken care of, man would instinctively secure his wants as his capacity would carry. Of these three basic needs of man, food is principal. A man without food is an angry man, is a man without thoughts, is a restless man.

Many at times, we take for granted the fact that we do not struggle so much to get what to eat, we think less, or are confident of our next meal, and therefore do not understand what it really means to have no food. Some men have died of starvation; famine has destroyed countries; turn friends to enemies, and made neighbours hunt themselves down. Food as easy as we get it, is a treasure to be guarded with blood, and sweat to some people.

Jonathan Lockwood Huie said, “Food is our most fundamental material blessing. Use each meal as an opportunity to feel gratitude for all the blessings of this life.” Gratitude is the least we can show for the blessing of our daily meal, and  it is the gateway to all other blessings, for without food we would not have the strength to pursue our dreams, visions, and life purpose.

Be grateful always for the blessing of food, and the ability to eat; some have food, but cannot eat; some can eat, but have no food; if you have food, and you can eat, never take it for granted, and when you find those who do not have food, a little help, a little act of kindness, a little gift of food, will go a long way, and is also a way of showing gratitude for that which you have. Be grateful, gratitude open doors to abundance.
