Day 197 of wisdom

“A life without a cause is a life without effect.”

Paulo Coelho

Shannon L. Alder said, “If you want to discover the true character of a person, you have only to observe what they are passionate about.” the things one is passionate about are the things that summarizes who, and what a man truly is, it reveals his true character. Therefore, a man is only a true reflection of what he is willing to cause, not just what his environment, and circumstances make of him.

A man without a cause is a man that hasn't started living, he is a man who has not discovered why he was born, and will therefore be a passenger without effect unless he discovers a purpose, and attach that purpose to his existence. Terry Orlick once said, “The heart of human excellence often begins to beat when you discover a pursuit that absorbs you, frees you, challenges you, or gives you a sense of meaning, joy, or passion.” so, excellence follows purpose, the way to become an excellent person is to be a person of purpose.

Someone once said, “Work for a cause, not for applause. Live to express, not to impress, don't strive to make your presence noticed, just make your absence felt.” one must live not only for oneself, or for the present, but one must live for something beyond one's self. We must look beyond what we receive, or how we feel in fulfilling our purpose, but in the effect it causes on the people for whom we hope to impact.

Ernest Agyemang Yeboah said, “Do not overexert your true strength on people. Do not give too much of yourself to country. Exert your all, your true strength and might on a true and a solemn purpose and you have done it all.” When you live for a worthy cause, you have not only done people good, nor made your country proud, you have made, or are making the world a better place to live.
