DON'T RUN THROUGH LIFE ALONE
There is an African proverb that says, "If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together." Life is not a sprint that requires running fast to get to the finish line. Life is a marathon, the finish line is too far off to want to run the race alone. You need a team, people of like minds, people who are going the same direction as you, and are not envious of your progress, but want to help you go as far as you all can go.
Humans are social beings, they are naturally wired for connection, and community, our triumphs, struggles, and dreams are meant to be shared. Running alone might feel empowering at first, but the weight of every step grows heavier without someone to cheer you on, pick you up when you fall, or enjoy the victory when you arrive at the finish line.
When you have a team, you can do more than when you are a lone ranger. Joint success will always supercede any individual achievement. You have to surround yourself with people who lift you higher than your strength alone can carry you, and in doing so they will reach higher levels themselves. A good team does not just make the journey bearable, they make it richer, they make it easier, and worthwhile.
There will be times when you need a shoulder to lean on, you can't have that running alone; you will need a hand to lift you up when you stumble, a lone ranger cannot get that. Running alone might get you there faster, but running together gets you farther. Let others in on your fears, your wins, your big dreams. Vulnerability is not a weakness, it is the courage to shout for help when you need it. Life is too big, too wild, too beautiful to go in solo. Find your people, and run the race together. You will be amazed at how much stronger you feel when you are not carrying the load, or running alone.
To a better you, Kamikun John.
