SPEED IS NOT ALWAYS PROGRESSIVE.
A small boy was once on the track for a relay race, fortunately, his partner from whom he would receive the baton was a fast runner, and of all the other contestants on that track waiting to receive the baton, he was the first receiver. Upon receiving the baton this young boy faced the direction his partner had come from and began to run in the opposite direction, and truth be told he was a very fast runner himself. The spectators started shouting telling him to return and continue the race from where he received the baton but he was so determined and continue running towards the starting line.
As fast as this little boy was, he and his team mates would have won the race, unfortunately, his speed was only a retrogressive one, it eventually got them nothing. Sometimes in life, we do not know where to head to, we get confused about which way leads forward, and we may not have the opportunity to ask questions before taking off. It is best we exercise a bit of patience and examine the situation around us carefully before embarking on a journey.
It is not just enough to have speed, it is not enough to know how to run, it is important we run in the right direction. Speed in the wrong direction is not progress, it is retrogresion, and it might require extra effort to get back on the right track. Time and effort will never be regained if expended on the wrong course. Someone once said, "direction is much more important than speed, you can go fast in the wrong direction." Before you begin, ensure you get your direction right, it is better not to begin at all, than to head in the wrong direction.
We cannot always be aware of everything, we cannot always be absolute with all our decisions, but we can be careful in reaching conclusions. We should not prioritise speed over direction, rather we should prioritise direction over speed. As a matter of fact, like Simon Sinek said, "It is better to go slowly in the right direction than go speeding off in the wrong direction." If you have discovered that you are headed in the wrong direction, it is better to return, you should not consider that your speed and effort will become a waste, there is nothing for you in the wrong direction, rather be take the right step in turning back and making things right.
