HEAL THE WORLD
The world, nations, and people have seen a lot of chaos and division in recent times. As pronounced as these divisions might be, they are never enough to create enmity and discord among humans. We have no other place to live, and there is no other race we can associate with except for this one that we have, "the human race." The world needs healing, and only us can do the work.
We must begin by having compassion towards one another, recognize that others are humans too, and begin to act with kindness. Small gestures such as helping a neighbour, comforting a friend, or volunteering to do something for the betterment of our society can create a ripple effect, and establish a pattern of positive change. Where individualism and self-centredness has been heavily promoted, choosing empathy bridges divides and fosters positive connection.
True healing requires addressing the injustices that have eaten deep into our systems, the poverty, inequality, and violence. We have to educate ourselves on the necessity of true humanity, advocate for peaceful coexistence, and support communities that have been marginalised, and impoverished. We can challenge the structures and establishments that perpetuate, and promote suffering. Change starts with awareness but grows through action, offering support, speaking up, and listening to those in need.
To heal the world, we must also heal the Earth. Climate change, pollution, and deforestation threaten not just our ecosystems but also human lives. We must begin by making sustainable choices to protect our land, water, and atmosphere, and advocate for policies that guarantee a healthier planet. You don't need wealth or fame to make a difference. Smile at a stranger; plant a tree; stand for justice. The world needs healing from her deep wounds, but hope lies in collective effort to "make it a better place for you and for me."
To a better you, Kamikun John.
