Go up higher

EVERY HIGH IS A NEW LOW

The higher you go in life the more you discover how high you still have to go. Life is like a pendulum, it swings between peaks and valleys, and what you call your peak today will someday become your valley, requiring you to climb further out to a new level. Sometimes, the higher you climb, the heavier your fall. As you climb you have to be careful what you do along the way, so your fall does not become a colossal and irreversible one.

What feels like triumph today can make you feel hollow in ways even failure never would. Success is not just temporary, it is also deceptive. The moment you achieve success, the craving for a win fades, and the win seems empty. The more you achieve, the more you realize how little any of it means. You wanted the promotion, the recognition, the love, the rush, only to find that once you have it, the thrill dissolves like sugar in water. The feeling does not last, it just resets the baseline for your next craving.

Every victory you get on your way to your next level is a setup for a possibly devastating defeat. Every new peak you touch is just the vantage point from which you see how much further you could fall. Nevertheless, irrespective of what happens you must keep moving, keep climbing, and keep pursuing higher levels. As you climb higher, everything gets tougher, but there are no alternatives.

After all, maybe the real trap is not failure, but success; maybe there is more to the success we achieve than the one we pursued, maybe success is not the real deal, but the satisfaction we derive from becoming a better person along the way. Every high you attain is a new low, but your current low is no longer worth it, go higher and set new standards to be attained. There is no way out but through.
