DON'T GO TO WAR LOOKING FOR PEACE
War is not the path to peace, it is the failure to have peace. History has shown us that violence begets violence, when you swing a sword in anger, you have only unsheathed and sharpened another. Those who march into battle believing they will secure calm, peace, tranquility through destruction are chasing a mirage. Peace is not the silence after the last gunshot; it is the absence of the need to fire at all, it is choosing to keep your sword sheathed when you think it should be out.
War corrupts the souls of nations. It turns the pursuit of justice into bloodstained conquests, noble ideals into hollow propaganda. War reduces great cities into a hip of rubble, and mansions into graves of the young. The bereaved wail for their loss, the maimed live with their new structure, these are not the foundations of lasting harmony. They are the seeds of future strife, a concealing of greater war to come. The victor may impose order, but resentment broods beneath, waiting for its hour of manifestation.
True peace is not won at the tip of a spear but built through justice, through understanding, through the relentless pursuit of common ground. It demands courage, not the fleeting bravery of the battlefield, but the enduring strength to lay down arms, the willingness to let go, to listen, to forgive. You do not go through war road hoping to arrive at peace station. You will only find its opposite. Instead, wage peace with the same ferocity with which others wage war. Build it, day by day, with words instead of weapons, with bridges instead of barricades.
Only peace can bring peace, everything else is an illusion. There is always a better way to prove a point, to achieve a goal than through force. The seeds you plant today, you will reap tomorrow. Cutting off the head does not cure a headache, it puts an end to the ability of that head to function. Revenge is not justice, it is the multiplication of resentment and strife. War brings more war, and peace is only achieved through sacrifice and mutual commitment to a desired end.
To a better you, Kamikun John.
