YOU CAN'T PLEASE EVERYONE
Desiring to please everyone, is like paying an assassin for your own murder. It is impossible to please men, irrespective of what you do. You could sacrifice everything on the premise of genuine love for your fellow men, but they will find fault in every single decision, and every dot of action; you could burnout yourself trying to lift a people, and they will criticise for doing too much; You could live all your life in a quest for something that will benefit everyone else but you, and you will still be called a fool.
You were never meant to please everyone, but to be a gift to the world, to make yourself a person valuable enough to make an impact everywhere you go. You are not to be a pawn on the chessboard of some men, but a player on the field of growth and development of your world. Not everyone will appreciate your efforts, and for those who will, never take them for granted, always appreciate them, they are the ones who love you genuinely and seek your progress.
This poem encapsulates the message clearly:
You could be the sweetest peach on the tree,
But some folks just don't like fruit.
You could bend until your back can bend no more,
And still, they will question your roots.
You could give them the sun, the moon, the stars,
And they will ask why not the sky.
You could love them hard, play all your cards,
And they will still say goodbye.
So wear your heart, don't trade your soul,
Some will take, some will leave.
You are not a jukebox playing on demand,
You don't owe the world a melody.
‘Cause you can't pour from an empty cup,
Can't light a fire with no spark.
And if you spend your life chasing every tide,
You will drown trying to please every heart.
So stand your ground, let the critics talk,
Some will stay, some will stray.
The right ones love you as you are,T
he rest can go their way.
To a better you, Kamikun John.
