DON'T QUIT:

Abraham Lincoln was born in humble surroundings, a one-room log cabin with dirt floors in Hardin County, Kentucky. His father, Thomas Lincoln, could not read and could barely sign his name. Given his background he was not expected to amount to anything in life but he was determined not to quit, he became a lawyer largely through self-education. On August 6th 1832,  he lost the election for General Assembly the same year he ran out of business, in 1833 his new business failed again and was badly in depth, in 1855 Lincoln does not get chosen by the Illinois legislature to be U.S. Senator, in 1859 instead of Abraham, the Illinois legislature chose Stephen Douglas for the U.S. Senate, he ran for U.S. Senate twice (1854 and 1858) but lost both times and He is estimated to have only received a total of 18 months of formal education, yet he never quit and on November 6th, 1860 Abraham Lincoln was elected as the 16th President of the United States of America, and was the first Republican.
For success to be achieved a process must be completed and aborting that process means quitting and conceding failure. Life is hard, difficult and unfair but we all have to deal with it. "People will rate you, hate you, shake you, and break you, but how strong you stand is what makes you". Everything may be happening in a way we did not expect and the weight of life's challenges are so heavy that we think the way out is quitting, but we have forgotten that we have been in pain and quitting will mean we will not be rewarded for the pains we have already gone through, why not stay at it and get rewarded for it. We should not cry to quit but cry to keep going. Pain is temporary, though it may last for a minute, an hour, a day, or even a year but eventually it will subside and something else will replace it, however, if you quit, it will last forever. The best way to be relieved of pain is achieving success and success cannot be achieved if you QUIT.

IT'S POSSIBLE:

It was a general believe in the world that it was not POSSIBLE for someone to run a mile in four minutes. On 6th of May 1954, during a meet between British AAA and Oxford University at Iffley Road Track in Oxford, 25-year-old medical student Roger Bannister cracks this track and field's most notorious barrier by running a mile in 3 min 59.4 seconds.
Just 46 days later, on 21 June another athlete, John Landy broke this record with a time of 3 min 58 seconds. Today over 20000 people has broken the 4-Minute Mile barrier.
The problem you want to solve is the greatest pointer to the possibility of the solution. If you dream so big and people you share your dreams with tell you it's not possible, it is a lie. Don’t let anybody tell you you can't do something, If people can't do something they want to make you believe it's impossible, they might even be so jealous about your dreams that they would want to talk you out of it, but you have to hold on to it. Possibility starts with the believe in oneself. You have to believe that you can be what you want to be or do that which you want to do without failing. Even if you fail you have to accept it as a step forward towards your dream and try again.
Failure is the result of a work or process that should not be repeated and it is not final unless you quit. You have to trust yourself that you can create a world you will be happy with, because, our aspirations are our possibilities.
Remember: "in order to attain the impossible, one must attempt the absurd." - Miguel de Cervantes.

May the goodness of the universe never elude us, Amen.

SELF-ESTEEM:

A Persons overall subjective emotional evaluation of his or her own self, a judgment of yourself as well as the attitude you put up towards yourself and other people. There exists two sides to self-esteem, the positive and negative sides. As good as self-esteem may be its negativity can be damning, demoralizing and self-destructive. Positive self-esteem is therefore a very important ingredient for successful people. Positive self-esteem is about building a mental picture of who you want to be and start acting in that manner, you must comport yourself in an honorable way depicting who you want to be and how you want to live your life, your speaking, dressing and way of life should be tailored towards that big picture of yourself in the future. You must thereby be ethical in the application of self-esteem, as the bible says "pride goes before destruction" self-esteem must not be mixed with pride.

Happiness is found when a person stop comparing himself or herself  to other people, you must also make sure you don't see yourself through the eyes of those who don't value you, you must know your worth even if they don't. Having a positive self-esteem will enable you to take up the challenges of facing difficult tasks and completing them, even when you fail at difficult tasks ,you should recall that failure is an event not a person and a person is a failure only when he or she stops trying.
Remember:
"When people believe in themselves they have the first secret of success". ~Norman Vincent Peale.
"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face". ~Eleanor Roosevelt.

PATIENCE:

Like any plant, growth of the Chinese Bamboo Tree requires nurturing – water, fertile soil, sunshine. In its first year, we see no visible signs of activity, in the second year, again, no growth above the soil. The third, the fourth, still nothing and finally in the fifth year – behold a miracle! The Chinese Bamboo Tree grows 80 feet tall in just six weeks!   The Chinese Bamboo Tree is a perfect parable to our own experience with personal growth and change (whether we are working on ourselves, coaching others or working on a particular task). It is never easy; it is slow to show any progress, It is frustrating and unrewarding at times. But it is sooooo worth it….especially if we can be patient and persistent. This is the critical variable in attaining new skills – in developing ourselves and others. It is our ability to stay persistent even when we are unable to see any growth on the surface…. just like the Chinese Bamboo Tree.

Can we stay focused and continue to believe in what we are doing even when we don’t see immediate results? In a culture driven by instant gratification – this is our biggest challenge. We often tell each other, remember to “Keep trying! And NEVER give up!” The change may be slow, even invisible at times but suddenly, as in the case of the Chinese Bamboo Tree, we will surprise ourselves. Keep your faith in this important work, don't relent on your effort, keep going, keep moving, keep doing and one day it will happen. We live in a quick-fix society. We get frustrated if we have to wait more than 2 minutes for service or a stop light to change, most young men and women want the fast track; we want instant solutions to every complex problem and every fractured relationship. In short we want it all now! But we must understand that what comes easy goes easy and what comes hard stays longer. Maybe it’s time to reflect on an old, old poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow that is as true today as it was when he wrote it over 100 years ago:
“The heights by great men reached and kept
were not attained by sudden flight,
But they, while their companions slept,
Toiled ever upward through the night.”
