366 days of wisdom (March 31, 2020)

Day 91 of wisdom

“I demolish my bridges behind me… then there is no choice but to move forward.”

Fridtjof Nansen

Life sometimes need that a radical approach be taken for a real chance, and shot to success. The past is a part of us, but we can decide how we react to the result of our actions of the past. If our past have been lived to favour our future, we can maximize the resultant effect of our past to benefit our present, but if we have lived a regrettable live, a life that does not guarantee us the future we dreamt of, then we can choose to leave that life behind, and begin a fresh journey to a brighter future.

Expecting a good life, and future requires deliberate action, and a process that is tailored towards achieving our desired goal, and dreams. If our past doesn't guarantee us our desired future, we can burn the bridge behind us, and start the construction of a brand new bridge that will take us to a brand new life and future.

If we must move forward in life, we must take radical decisions that will always push us towards that dream, and desired future. We must be determined, relentless, and willing to go forward irrespective of what happens. Stagnancy and backwardness are the result of an indecisive, and undetermined mind.

Angelina Jolie once said, "It’s hard to be clear about who you are when you are carrying around a bunch of baggage from the past. I have learned to let go and move more quickly into the next place." So, if you must move into the next phase of your life, the more desirable, and good life, you must leave behind the baggage holding you down.

Forget the past, burn the bridges, move forward.

366 days of wisdom (March 30, 2020)

Day 90 of wisdom

“The Pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The Optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.”

Winston Churchill

Charles Swindoll once said, “life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” Our response to the events in our lives determines what we get out of those events. It is up to us to live the life of our dreams, and this means we must take full responsibility for what happens to us, but respond to it in ways that will produce positive results.

Everything that happens to a person is subject to that person's interpretation. A pessimist and an optimist interprets the same situation differently. What an optimist see as an opportunity, a pessimist see as a difficulty. What you see is what you get.

Sometimes, we cannot determine what happens to us, but we always determine our response to what happens, and our response determines how it affects us and those around us. Our perception of situations determines how we respond to it, we must therefore, open our minds to see life, and life events from different perspectives.

Our mistakes sometimes bring upon unpleasant events, but we must understand that, as humans we are not immune to making mistakes, but whenever we make these mistakes, we must be quick to forgive ourselves of those mistakes, thinks the positives, and find ways of making the best out of every situation.

Opportunities may sometimes be disguised as difficulties, and impossible situations, but we must choose to see positivity rather than the difficulty. Think positive, get positivity.

366 days of wisdom (March 29, 2020)

Day 89 of wisdom
“Hope is the bedrock of this nation; the belief that our destiny will not be written for us, but by us.”
Barack Obama

An American by the name Abhijit Naskar once said, “A nation’s worth lies not in the value of its currency, but in the character of its people”, in other word, “a nation’s true value is the people of that nation”, and a nation thrives only on the beliefs shared by her people, their hope for the future, and their actions towards their desired destiny.

Any nation who will rise to heights of freedom, justice, peace, and unity must have a people who are ready, determined, and willing to take no less of what they deserve: a nation that truly works. The citizens of such nation must share a common belief, and must have a united front, and line of action to be taken, to achieve their desires.

They would face oppositions from opportunists who are beneficiaries of a corrupt, rotten and unwanted system, but they must not relent on their efforts, and drive to fight for a nation that works for all, the young, and old; privileged, and underprivileged; indigenes, and residents.

As a nation we must rise in unity to build our country, to build the land which our fathers gave unto us, but in the true sense, we have only borrowed from our children. We must be determined to leave our country a better place for the unborn generation, we must live to protect the dignity and pride of our nation, and with our drive, and determination, we will get there.

366 days of wisdom (March 28, 2020)

Day 88 of wisdom

“No one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it.”

H.E. Luccock

No single soldier can go to the battlefield alone, no matter how strong, valiant, and powerful he is, his defeat would be without a sweat for his enemies. A symphony cannot be played by one person, it takes a whole orchestra, who are united, and prepared to play it.

On the battlefield, every soldier watches his partner's back, they encourage each other, they obey instruction, and directives all in the bid to win the war. Anyone who feels he is better alone, or can win a battle alone, and detaches himself from the army has put himself in an irredeemable danger.

Aristotle once said, “a common danger unites even the bitterest of enemies.” In times like this, when the world is being ravaged by a common enemy (COVID 19), which is a threat to every one of us, the best way to win this battle is to unite. We should watch each others back, obey directives, and instructions from relevant government agencies, health organizations, and all agencies who are at the forefront of the battle. We may not be major players on the global, national, state, or even local levels, but to ourselves, and our family we are the major players.

The world needs you, the country needs you, your family needs you, we all need ourselves, and we must not give ourselves away to something cheap as Corona Virus, we must keep hope alive, strengthen our fellow soldiers in this battle, and ensure to keep ourselves safe, because when all this is finally over, we will build our world together back up from it ruins.

Stay safe, keep calm, all will be well.

366 days of wisdom (March 27, 2020)

Day 87 of wisdom

“Fear and self-doubt have always been the greatest enemies of human potential.”

Brian Tracy

Fear is the greatest enemy of a man, it denies him the opportunity of fulfilling his God given potentials, and living the life of his dreams. Fear births self-doubt in human, and therefore makes him believe he does not have what it takes to achieve his heart desires.

Fear is one of the most powerful forces in the world, it can defeat an army before they enter the battlefield, it can cripple a man who wants to fly to the moon, it can keep an eagle on the ground for life. A more powerful force is faith. Faith conquers fear, it gives courage to the weak, and strengthen the heart of the feeble. Faith pushes one to pursue even when he feels he isn't strong enough to, faith wins over fear.

If one must achieve greatness, if one must go the distance, you must do that which you have to do being afraid “do it afraid,” that is, while being afraid, do it anyway. You have to take the leap, you have to jump, if you don't jump, your parachute wouldn't be activated, you wouldn't know how it feels to fly.

Activate faith, dispel fears, key into the possibilities of achieving your dreams, you have got the potentials, you were created in God's image, he has deposited greatness within you, and the amount of greatness you achieve is only a reflection of what you are able to mine, extract, explore, and refine.

In the words of Henry Ford, “there is no man living who isn’t capable of doing more than he thinks he can do”, so, go for more, do more, be more.

366 days of wisdom (March 26, 2020)

Day 86 of wisdom

“You never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”

Dr Seuss

Moments are always worth more in the  future than when it is being lived, and experienced. It is important to understand that our family, friends, and loved ones are the most important things we have outside ourselves, and must be cherished.

Most times, we never know the true value of what we have until we lost it. We tend to be too careful of so many other irrelevancies when we should be paying the most attention to the most important things in our lives (family, friends, and loved ones).

Whenever we have the opportunity to unite with family, friends, and relatives, we have to give ourselves the privilege of enjoying the moment to the fullest, we have to let go of whatever bugs our minds, and live in the moment, not just for ourselves, but also for the sake of our loved once.

Memories are created in moments, and must be done when the privilege abounds. We will not always be around, and the memories we create in the moments we have lingers on in the hearts of those we share them with.

Love while you can, give while you can, make friends while you can, live the life you would have wished for, create memories while you can, for the days are coming when you will wish you had them.

Winning the war against corona virus

Let's join hands to defeat Corona virus

In this season of chaos, and unpleasant happenings, we need to take all necessary precautions as directed, and instructed by relevant government agencies, and health organizations, above all we need divine intervention more than anything.

We need to commit our world into God's unfailing hands, and ask for His mercies, for only Him can  save us in times like this.

I find this song by Dolly Parton, 'Hello God' a good one for a time like this.

Day 85 of wisdom

“Light attracts light. But sometimes your light attract moths and your warmth attracts parasites. Protect your space and energy.”

Warsan Shire

One of the laws of magnetism says, repulsion occurs when like poles of a magnet come together, while there is an attraction when unlike poles meet. This law does not apply to some other phenomenon, as a saying go, “birds of a feather flock together”, this means people of similar mind, interest, way of life, and character tend to spend more time with each other, but exceptions are a possibility.

Sometimes, your light attracts moths, that is, you attract people who are not meant to be attracted to you, negative, demoralizing, and uninspiring people, who would not add any real value to you, but drain you of the usefulness left in you.

People with negative energy, and ideologies also want to get positive results, and have good stuffs, but their inability to achieve, or implement whatever need to be done for them to achieve their goals, they therefore, live in superficial denial of the good life, which they actually want, and hope for.

Protecting your territory, your ideas, your mentality, and philosophy is your prime responsibility, and should be done with all your mind. You should not allow their negative energy to affect your positivity. So, protect your space, protect your energy, and continue growing.

366 days of wisdom (March 24, 2020)

Day 84 of wisdom

“Healing begins the moment you accept the hurt.”

Sonia Motwani.

Sometimes, one gets hurt while undertaking a particular activity, and being engrossed in these activities does not even realize he is hurt. Upon the realization of this injury, he begins to take care, and give attention to the injury, before he can realize, the wound is healed.

Man is generally susceptible to hurt, and could get hurt through different means. No man is immune to being hurt, though they may come in different ways, and might be of varying degrees, and at different times.

When one is hurt, his response and reaction determines how fast he recover from the hurt. Recovering from hurt requires one huge, but simple decision that is, 'acceptance'. Accepting you are hurt is the first most important decision to take, and must be preceded by other steps such as, willingness to receive assistance, open mindedness, and determination to recover.

On the race to success, challenges, and difficulties are being encountered, but as soon as one accepts the fact that assistance is needed he will get it, and will achieve whatever he has decided, and determined to have.

Don't hide the pain, come out open, and get the cure.

366 days of wisdom (March 23, 2020)

Day 83 of wisdom

“No one ever climbed a hill, just by looking at it.”

W. F. Kumuyi

A popular saying goes, “if wishes were horses, beggars would ride”, if you could achieve your aims simply by wishing for them, life would be very easy, but unfortunately, life is not that easy. Achieving success requires serious, determined, dedication, and commitment.

Wishes can be realized, and achieved, but it must be raised above the level of just wishing, and must be put into executable plans of action. Everything that now exist in the world was once non-existent, but started from the wish, thought, and imagination of a man.

One's heart desires (wishes) could be the beginning of great achievement if only those wishes could be worked upon, and turned into a valuable, and valid course of action, which could bring about positive change to any of human endeavors.

However big, and exciting a wish, dream, or heart desire is, if one does not take action, he would not achieve anything, getting to a new location requires one to leave his current location. The path to success is taking, deliberate, determined, and conscious action. Nothing happens until something moves, the secret to getting ahead is getting started.

In the words of Germany Kent, “no plan and no action will lead to no results.”

366 days of wisdom (March 22, 2020)

Day 82 of wisdom

“An empty lantern provides no light. Self-care is the fuel that allows your light to shine brightly.”

Anonymous

A lantern is useless if it does not illuminate it's environment. A lantern is not made for aesthetic purpose, but for giving light, and providing illumination for people, but for that illuminating ability to be effectual, it must be oiled, and its thread properly trimmed.

We are all made for a purpose, and for us to achieve this purpose in life we must pay attention to some critical aspects of lives, we must take care of ourselves in ways that will not affect or reduce our functionality and effectiveness. We must take care of our spiritual, mental, physical, psychological, and physiological life. We must not be too mindful of other people that we forget to take care of ourselves.

Destinies are tied to our success in life, and if we break down without achieving our purpose, we would have failed those who look up to us for support. A bus without enough fuel to go the distance required of its passengers will not get to its destination, so if we must be relevant, and useful to our generation, we must be well prepared in other not to fail those who are dependent on us for whatever they need to progress in life.

Sometimes, we look down on ourselves as though we are not worthy to be looked up to, but we must realize, we have more within us than we can ever imagine, but will not be made manifest until we out it to use.

A poem written by Marianne Williamson says,
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, Our presence automatically liberates others.

Shine your light brightly, for that is what you were made for.

366 days of wisdom (March 21, 2020)

Day 81 of wisdom

“Without order, nothing exists. Without chaos, nothing evolves.”

Jedi Mind Tricks

The world was created in a very orderly procession, and order has continued to be the principal course of existence. Days, and nights follow each other in an orderly manner, seasons comes after each other orderly, the universe, and everything in it are all orderly in their behaviours, and characters.

Order basically, is the funnel of creation, but chaos is the trigger of evolution. Overtime, the world have experienced change in all spheres, be it in technology, science, and sociology. All have at a point gone through drastic changes. The world wars, Holocaust, revolutions, genocides, civil wars, disease outbreaks, and pandemics, currently corona virus (COVID 19) have all had great effects on the world, nations, and societies, and have changed the course of history overtime.

Someone once said, "not all storms come to trouble you, some actually come to clear your path." Sometimes, we need to see the positives in problems, other than always being pessimistic about them. We need to always examine problems from different perspectives, because that will open our mind to possibilities, and hidden opportunities.

When COVID 19 is finally defeated, and gone, the world would have learnt a lot, people would learnt to live more hygienically, and some diseases would also have been gotten rid of.

“Smooth seas never make skillful sailors”, this too shall pass.

366 days of wisdom (March 20, 2020)

Day 80 of wisdom

“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls the butterfly.”

Richard Bach

Life is a field of constant, and consistent change, sometimes, when a change is about to happen to us, it may not be too easy, we may find it difficult to go through it, but the truth is, if we can just bear it, and sail through that metamorphic phase, we will be better for it.

The Caterpillar has no similarity whatsoever to a butterfly, but it is the caterpillar that becomes a butterfly. During metamorphosis, the Caterpillar's life is at risk, the process is excruciating, and it seems like it's the end, but before you realize, another creature emerges, more beautiful, colourful, and winged, ready to fly.

Like the butterfly, there may come moments in our lives, when things are ready to change, and everything around us becomes difficult, and unbearably painful, but we must realize that, the birth of new things does not come with ease.

When new things are about to happen it is always difficult. A new born baby arrives from the pain of a mother, a butterfly through painful metamorphosis from a Caterpillar, and a bright new day is birthed just at the turn of the darkest night. So, just when it becomes hard, and unbearable that could just be the time when everything changes.

Keep growing, stay in the process, never give up, and when it becomes the hardest hang on, for the tides will turn.

Day 79 of wisdom

“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are.”

J. P. Morgan

Winning in a competition is not a feat that comes by mistake, it does not happen by luck, winning only comes to those who are prepared, trained, and determined to win, and like in any sport, or competition in life, success doesn't just come, it is earned through hard work, determination, and adequate preparation.

If you must get to a new destination, you will first have to decide you are leaving where you currently are, you will have to determine within you to move forward.

Sometimes, we don't want to move forward for fear of failure, but without first failing at something, succeeding may be difficult. People who have excelled in various aspects of human endeavors are men and women who have at one time failed, or have been tagged failures, and never do well, but are today great men, and women of impact, this they achieved because they decided to move forward, and they never gave up on their journey forward.

You are the only obstruction to your breakthrough, trash your fears, and take that decision, and step into action today, that is the way to go.

366 days of wisdom (March 18, 2020)

Day 78 of wisdom

“Wise men speak because they have something to say; fools because they have to say something.”

Plato

One of America's top motivational speaker Les Brown once said, “it is better to be quiet, and let people think you are foolish, than to open your mouth to confirm it.” A wise man speaks only when it is wise for him to do so, but a foolish man speaks even when he should not.

When a wise man speak, those who hear it must pay attention, and his words bring relief to their hearts, but when a foolish man speaks he causes a stir. Wisdom is not only in what is said, but also in how it is said.

The wise does not just speak, because to the foolish, his words is foolishness. Wisdom they say comes with old age; but not all old people are wise, because wisdom is learned through experience, and not just gotten on platters of gold. Proverbs 22:15 says, “Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; ...” This implies that, by nature a child is foolish, and that very verse gave the solution to foolishness in a child. Therefore, wisdom must be earned through a determined effort to be wise.

When you speak and your words are not regarded, do not be surprised, the foolish never see the wisdom in the words of the wise.

366 days of wisdom (March 17, 2020)

Day 77 of wisdom

“Go wisely and slowly. Those who rush stumble and fall.”

William Shakespeare

Speed does not always translate to progress if direction is wrong, sometimes progress is a slow, but steady movement towards fulfillment of purpose. While working to achieve one's purpose in life, one must be careful not to confuse speed for progress. It is not only the tortoise that gets to its destination, the snail also does.

A common traffic warning reads, “speed kills”, sometimes, in the journey of life one have to be mindful of speed in other not to be a casualty. If a vehicle is running at a very high-speed, it can easily be derailed, or put off its track if slightly hit by another vehicle, and the resulting crash will be ghastly. If on the journey to achieving purpose one becomes hasty, a little situation can easily put one off balance, and destabilize one mentally, psychologically, and in many other ways.

There is a common phrase which says, “slow and steady wins the race,” the keys to achieving success in life are consistency, dedication, and determination among others, you must continue to move, no matter how slow just keep moving.

Paramount on the journey to achieving success is wisdom, and as Proverbs 4:7 said, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”

366 days of wisdom (March 16, 2020)

Day 76 of wisdom

“New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.”

Lao Tzu

New beginnings are not always pleasant at the start, sometimes they come with privileges that looks like work, gigantic, and dressed in overalls, contrariwise privileges, and opportunities that come with new beginnings are meant to be optimally utilized to our advantage, they are there to be taken, used, and channeled in a way that will be of ultimate benefit to us, and everyone around us.

Beginning a new project, embarking on a new course, starting a new business may all seem to be a great way off track, inconvenient, and painful at the beginning, it may even not get any easier during the course of the journey, but eventually, when things begin to take shape, and the results of the work, and effort we have put into it begins to manifest, we will be the better for it.

However today looks like, however tough starting may be, all that is required to have a happy, fulfilling, rewarding, and joyful ending is to start no matter what. Starting may be difficult, but once you start, the momentum is set, stopping will not be an option anymore, and that is how winning is done.

So, today, take advantage of the privileges, and opportunities that come with new beginnings, put in your best in ensuring the ending is the perfect result you expected, and will be happy to have.

366 days of wisdom (March 15, 2020)

Day 75 of wisdom

“When we have arrived at the question, the answer is already near.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Life is a journey of uncertainties, despite these uncertainties, the journey is a must. The success, or failure of the journey is dependent on how well you have planned for it, how detailed your map is, and how prepared you are to execute your plans.

The details on your map will be determined by the quality of questions asked while preparing it, and the quality of your question will determine the quality of the answer you get.

On your journey to your desired future, there are questions you must ask yourself, but you must be sure you are asking the right question because, there can never be a right answer to a wrong question, 'once the foundation be destroyed, the righteous can do nothing about it'. One's purpose in life will determine the kind of questions that would be drawn up, as the answers must lead you to the fulfilment of this purpose.

Therefore, arriving at the right question is more important than the answer itself, we must therefore give deliberate attention to ensuring that we come up with the right question, so as to receive the right and appropriate answer.

In the words of Jonathan Lockwood Huie, "when you keep getting the wrong answers, try asking better questions." Change your questions, change your life.

366 days of wisdom (March 14, 2020)

Day 74 of wisdom

“The most dangerous creation of any society is the man who has nothing to lose.”

James Baldwin.

Anyone who hopes to get to heights of greatness, and expect to achieve something tangible in life, must be wary of the man who has nothing to loss. A person who has nothing to loss poses great danger to the people around them except they are of same class.

A person who have a big dream does not tell his dreams to a man with small mind; he would not be able to fathom the possibility of that dream coming to pass; a small-minded person would only disrespect, and disregard a big dream because he cannot understand it, he would take such dreams for granted.

You cannot strike fear into a man who has no one he loves; you cannot persuade a man who wants nothing; you cannot give hope to a man who has already given up; you cannot argue with a man who does not care; you cannot defeat a man who has nothing to lose; so be wary of the man who is empty and alone, for he has nothing to lose but everything to gain.

Guard your dreams, visions, and life goals with all your heart, keep them away from dream busters, for they care less of what you become because, they do not hope to become anything.

366 days of wisdom (March 13, 2020)

Day 73 of wisdom

“Anger, resentment and jealousy doesn't change the heart of others, it only changes yours.”

Shannon Alder.

Anger does not destroy the one to which it is directed to, but he who carries it in his heart. In fact, anger does not impact anyone other than the person who harbour it (the angry man). Anani Sunday once quoted, “anger misuses a man briefly and then releases him to see clearly, the consequences of his misguided actions.” Anger does no good at all to any man.

We may get offended by a lot of people, but we may choose not to pick offense; we may be wronged by people around us; but we may choose to keep our hearts, and mind right; we may have reasons to be jealous of other people's progress, and success, but we can also choose to be thankful for them while we appreciate what we have, and work towards achieving more. We choose the state of our hearts, and mind at any point in time, so, we can decide to be happy, or sad, and angry no matter the situation we find ourselves.

The people who offend us, or do us wrong are not affected by our state of mind, so, we must keep ourselves in the right frame of mind no matter what happens because, in the end, we are the ones who enjoy, or regret the decisions we make when in our angry state.

Give your heart the best diet, don't deprive it of what it needs to thrive — happiness.

366 days of wisdom (March 12, 2020)

Day 72 of wisdom

“The good life is expensive. There is another way to live that doesn’t cost as much, but it isn’t any good”

Spanish Distillers.

Everyone wants to live the good life, the life of glamour, abundance, and enjoyment, but not everyone wants to pay the price for that kind of life. Life does not give you what you deserve but what you are not willing to have any less of. That is, life gives you only what you bargain for, that which you are desperately determined to have no matter of what happens, provided you work hard enough to achieve it.

Most people have dreams of a better life, but have chosen the easy life by the way they live which is not any good. The easy life costs little, but is no way pleasurable, nor interesting to live, it is not an enjoyable life, and in the end makes an individual to have only existed and not lived.

The good life does not come easy, it comes at a cost. Hard work, dedication, tenacity, and  strong will are some prices one will have to pay to have the good, and successful life.

If you expect to have the good life, you must pay the price, and negotiate your way through to achieve your desired goals. Your tomorrow is determined by the actions you take today; the price you pay today, determines what you get tomorrow.

366 days of wisdom (March 11, 2020)

Day 71 of wisdom

“It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.”

Mark Twain.

Knowledge is power, but it has recently been a subject of contention in some quarters, that power is power, despite these contentions we must not relent in our effort of acquiring knowledge, because without knowledge one is at the mercy of the one with knowledge, and can be easily manipulated by the ones who have power.

In our quest for knowledge, we must also ensure that we get the right thing. It is not just enough to know, but to know right. If you are been told, or taught a thing, due diligence should be made in confirming, and ascertaining that what you are been told is nothing but the absolute truth, and fact.

It is better to be ignorant of something, than to know something that is not just true, being ignorant is like being on point zero, while knowing something that isn't true is moving from point zero to negative. So, in your quest for the acquisition of knowledge, we must ensure you acquire the whole truth.

Knowledge is power, and negative knowledge is vulnerability, therefore, in getting knowledge, get the right one.

366 days of wisdom (March 10, 2020)

Day 70 of wisdom

“I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies, for the hardest victory is over self.”

Aristotle.

The world have witnessed strong, valiant men who have conquered nations, territories, and cultures, they have through strength and organizations, subdued kingdoms, but have been brought down, and destroyed by the things that cannot measure up to their level of strength, such as, ladies, drunkenness, and reckless attitudes.

True strength is not in victory over an army in a battle, or conquering an enemy in a physical fist fight. True strength is found in being able to tame your desires, and put your flesh under control. True strength is in doing the right thing at all times, no matter the pressure to do otherwise.

Strength of character and attitude is the best form of strength any man can possess. Nelson Mandela overcame the urge by his comrades to fight back, and revenge what their captors did to them. Martin Luther King Jr. showed the strength he possessed by choosing only dialogue, and peaceful rallies in the fight for the emancipation of the black race, and minorities, which eventually came to pass even after his death.

Anyone who desires to rising to the peak of success must be ready to overcome self, and willing to tame the desires of self gratification, for the greater good of achieving their dreams, and visions.

“The playground of strength, and bravery is not on the battlefield, it is within you.”

366 days of wisdom (March 9, 2020)

Day 69 of wisdom

“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.”

Robert Nesta Marley (Bob Marley).

The bondage of chains, and locks is not the worst kind of bondage a man can be in, but the bondage of the mind. If a man is free from mental, and mind slavery, no other form of bondage is potent enough to limit such a person.

The world can imprison an individual, the society can limit progress, the community may not be enabled, but all these counts for less, if the mind is not imprisoned. Even when ones environment attempts to enslave a man's mind, such attempts can only be successful if one allows it.

Only we can free our minds from mental slavery and imprisonment, we are responsible for our own liberation and if we are willing, and ready to be liberated, no force on earth is capable of hindering us.

Once our minds are free, our opportunities, privileges, potentials, and possibilities are limitless, and unending. We can achieve whatever we set our minds to achieve, and we will be that which we set out to be.

366 days of wisdom (March 8, 2020)

Day 68 of wisdom

“Women are the largest untapped reservoir of talent in the world.”

Hillary Clinton

Without women, the world would have been incomplete, even the creator recognizes this, reason he said, "it is not good for a man to be alone". The woman is the last of all creation, she therefore, completes the creations of the creator, and every attribute that wasn't given to man was deposited in the woman, because she is the last avenue of bringing them to the world.

The woman is a large reservoir of everything that man lacks. Women should therefore not be left out in any developmental program, they are the keys to the prosperity, and progress of any community. Mitchell Obama once said, " no country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half of its citizens."

If we must have progressive, loving, growing, and effectively functional communities, we must ensure that women are part of the drive. We must do all it take to give them the support they deserve in terms of education, empowerment, and freedom.

"If you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a nation". Great nations have risen on the back of strong, educated women. Give women education, the nation becomes better for it.

Happy women's day to all the beautiful, elegant, wonderful, hardworking, and loving women in the world, you made the world worth living.

366 days of wisdom (March 7, 2020)

 Day 67 of wisdom

“The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.”

Ernest Hemingway.

The world is a very cruel place, and life is unfair. Life deals with different people in a different ways, and what you become after these dealings are dependent on what you are made up of.

Whilst, difficulties destroys some people, it makes some people stronger. When the world breaks some people through tough times, and situations, some in their broken states become stronger, and rise from their ashes a better person than they were before their problems.

Sometimes, people have to get into problems to realize how strong they are, and what powers reside within them. Generally people feel very comfortable in the comfort zones, that they forget to put their potentials to use, they deny themselves of the greatness they could attain, and relent in the pursuit of their dreams, and aspirations.

Problems should not destroy nor weaken us, but bring the best out of us, we should not succumb to our weakness, but dig deep into the reserves of our willpower to explore our hidden potentials, and shoot for the moon.

366 days of wisdom (March 6, 2020)

Day 66 of wisdom

“A slip of the foot you may soon recover, but a slip of the tongue you may never get over.”

Benjamin Franklin.

Mistakes are a part of the human journey to the future, no one is immune to mistakes, in fact, we are allowed to make mistakes, because we learn more from mistakes than from success. While some mistakes can be easily forgotten, and forgiven, we may never get the opportunity to recover from some mistakes.

One of the mistakes we must always avoid as humans, is careless, and unbridled talks. Words they say, 'are like eggs', when broken, it can never be whole again, so, when you talk, those words of yours are out, and cannot be retrieved. So, you must be very careful, and think twice before you utter, or say any word.

The man who was regarded as the wisest that ever lived said, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love its use will eat its fruit." (Proverbs 18:21 NET). Your usage of your tongue, will determine the fruit you will eat, be it life, or death. Whatever you proclaim with your tongue, you will receive, sooner, or later.

The tongue is to the body (your life), what a rudder is to the ship, it directs it in the path where it is been turned, if you must arrive safely at your destination, you must use your tongue wisely.

Your tongue can either put you in trouble or rescue you from a difficult condition, Josh Billings once said, "the best time for you to hold your tongue is the time you feel you must say something or bust."

366 days of wisdom (March 5, 2020)

Day 65 of wisdom

"Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are."

Malcolm S. Forbes.

If you don't know who, or what you are, you would not know your worth. Some people relegate themselves to the background when they should be at the forefront, and vice versa. Sometimes, either could be necessary, but one must know the true value, and worth of himself, so you can adequately place your foot right at the right time.

A Yoruba adage when been interpreted says, "as a man describes his cloth, so will his neighbours describe it for him" this by implications means, however you regard yourself is the way you will be regarded by those around you. We must constantly do some personal evaluation of ourselves and paint the best possible picture in moderacy.

You are a success, and you have to understand that. If you must rightly value yourself, you must realize who you are, what you are, and where you are going. Your present situation does not really define you, because if it does, there is no opportunity for a change, but because, you are not your present, you shouldn't define yourself by your present, but by what you could become in the future.

Do not look down on yourself at any point in time, nor think too highly of yourself, but be moderate in your valuation of yourself. You may be down today, but if you do not stay down, you will soon be up.

366 days of wisdom (March 4, 2020)

Day 64 of wisdom

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson.

It's been said that, "if you walk in the footprints of others, you wouldn't make any of your own", wanting to become someone else, is one of the greatest injustices you can bring upon yourself, because there would be nobody to be you. There may be a lot you admire in someone you regard very highly, and you wish to be like them, the truth is, it is difficult, but if you eventually do you would not last, because copies fade fast, and easily.

Being original is also a difficult thing to do in this age and time, as there may be pressure from friends, family, and loved ones to be someone, or something other than yourself. Staying true to yourself is the best gift you could ever give to yourself, it is the greatest accomplishment you could ever achieve. If you do not live your life, pursue your dreams, and become what you are destined to become, you would not know what you can become, you would not know how great you could be, and the heights you could get to.

It is only when you live your life without succumbing to societal pressures of becoming someone else, that you can explore the hidden treasures, and the great possibilities that is ahead of you. Samuel Johnson once said, "no man was ever great by imitation", so, if you will be great, be original.

366 days of wisdom (March 3, 2020)

Day 63 of wisdom

“I’ve learned that something constructive comes from every defeat.”

Tom Landry.

Defeats are always a difficult pill to swallow, it plunges one into a state of feeling incapable of achieving ones purpose in life, but this should not always be the narrative. Though, defeats are painful to accept, they should be quickly looked over, and turned into a rung of ladder for upward movement, a stepping stone that leads one to his dreams.

Winners are losers, who never gave up. Everyone who wants to win don't just win at their first try, even if they do, they must have put a lot of hard work into what they do, that it will be impossible for anyone to outwork, or outperform them. Being defeated teaches us, maybe not what to do, but what not to do in your next try. Once you can learn from the mistakes of your defeat, and understand the reason you were defeated, you will be closer to winning than before the defeat.

Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Winston Spencer-Churchill who was an army officer, and writer. who led Britain to victory in the Second World War scripted, "success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." Failure those not spell doom, neither does it mean the end, but should be an opportunity for a fresh start towards a brand new ending.

Stop whining in defeat, look up, stand up, brace up, and move forward to victory.

366 days of wisdom (March 2, 2020)

Day 62 of wisdom

“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.”

Walt Disney.

In the words of Muhammad Ali, “He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life”, your dreams and goals cannot be achieved if you lack the courage to pursue them. “Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.” - Maya Angelou.

Some dreams may be so huge, that you feel it is impossible to achieve, but what we must know is that, nothing is impossible, as the word impossible in itself says, "I'm possible". If you have got the dreams, and the guts to pursue it, nothing will stop you from achieving that dream.

Dreams always come true, but you must be awake if your dreams must come true, you must be willing to relentlessly pursue until you accomplish. Giving up on your dreams is an act of cowardice, only cowards give up. Your dreams are too valuable to give up on, the world earnestly expects its fulfilment, and you must not fail them. What do you stand to gain from giving up? Nothing.

Disneyland was an humongous, and scary dream for Walt Disney, but his courage, and determination saw it manifest; becoming the President of the United States of America was almost a mirage, and impossibility for Abraham Lincoln. Having very minimal formal education, and failing in lower level elections he had contested, his courage not to quit despite the failure saw him eventually win the race for the presidency, and one of the best Presidents the United States ever had.

“Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.” - John Wayne

366 days of wisdom (March 1, 2020)

Day 61 of wisdom

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”

Mother Teresa.

The world has become a hostile place over the years, and needs a lot of love. Though, there are lots of loving people in the world, sharing and giving love everywhere, our world wouldn't be better, if we don't give a dose of our love to the world around us.

The ocean may be filled with a lot of water, a cup away from it, reduces the volume of water in it, and a cup into increases its, though very minute, and insignificant. When we show love to our neighbour, it might seem an insignificant addition to the ocean of love in the world, but it might just have been the most significant thing to happen to that fellow.

Living is not just surviving, it is serving; it is not just enjoying life, it is impacting lives; living is about making others live better lives. Mother Teresa said, "live simply, so others may simply live". Thousands, and millions if people are begging just to survive, will you do  your bit in making just one live? The world needs more love, more kindness, more care, no matter how little and insignificant it may seem, give it out, it may just mean the world to the one who receives it.
